Family Time & Time Flies

I had an awesome time visiting my family for Christmas. What a great trip. I got the chance to spend time with my Grandpa, cousins, uncle, & aunts. I really believe that Christmas is my favorite time of the year (my favorite season remains the Fall!), but the Christmas season helps to remind us of the little things that are important in life. From hearing my little cousins laugh to watching movies with them; in addition to sitting with my Grandpa for a little while chatting. It's a reminder of the simple things that happen to us that we take for granted; or better yet, the things we need to keep in our memory banks as a reason to smile on the tough days!

I hope that everyone enjoyed their Christmas & took something away from the time spent with family & friends. As we approach a New Year, I think we're reminded of how fast 2009 has flown by & look forward to what 2010 may bring. I know that there will be lessons to learn, things to do, & battles to overcome, but the anticipation of it all is exciting. 2009 was a good year for me. I know that 2010 will be a good one as well. Looking forward to what God has in store & praying to be able to take it all in.

So with this new year on the horizon, write down goals & what you plan to accomplish. I'm not necessarily referring to resolutions, but things you haven't done, want to do, put off doing, etc. There's a lot to do & as we know, time waits for no one!

Expect big things, daily!!!

Until next time.

Blessings,

Praise Song: "Close to You"

This week's Praise Song is BeBe and CeCe Winans' "Close to You". It's a really nice song & easy listening. It reminds you of more than a Gospel Song, but it also reminds one of that deep relationship with God. Enjoy!!

I just want to be close to you.
sunshine, moonlight, delight just a couple words describing who you are.
lovely, so lovely - want everyone to know why I'm in love with you

patient and strong, always, no matter what I face you've been there to bring me through.
just right (right on) on time, it took a while to see that your love was true.

now no one can (undo)
cause I belong (to you)
until the end (of time)
good to know (good to know you're mine)
and all I want (to say)
until my dying (dying day)
I just want to be close to you

honest and sweet
heaven is where I want to be
where I am when I'm with you
perfect, yes perfect
it took a while to see that this love was true now no one can (undo)
cause I belong (to you)
until the end (of time)
it's good to know (you're mine)
and all I want (all I want to do is say - til my dying day)
I just want to be close to you

now following me sis...
say dah dah, u say (dah dah)
say dah dah
dah dah dah dah dah dah dah dah dah dah dah dah
dah dah (mmm,mmm) dah dah
it took a while to see, now we know the truth

now -no one can (undo)
I belong (to you)
until the end (of time)
good to know (good to know you're mine)
and all I want (how long will you stay- till my dying day)
I just want to be close to you
ya ya ya ya (how long will you stay)
I just wanna be close to you

Until next time.

Merry Christmas!!!!

"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"—which means, "God with us." -Matthew 1:23 (NIV)

I want to wish you & your family a Merry Christmas and a great New Year!!

May we remember the importance of Christmas Day--Jesus. He died for our sins, so we could be saved. Enjoy every moment of your day with your family & friends. Make great memories, as they are so precious!!

Until next time.

Open the Box

Have you ever checked your closet or belongings & found that item that still has the sales tag on it? The item that has yet to be used?? Well the other day, I “found” this brand new rice cooker I had yet to use. When I say “brand new”, I mean still in-the-box, yet to be opened (& I won't share with you how long it's been in the box). Now I don’t know why I hadn’t used this item yet, but the fact is, it was still in the box! Which is amazing considering how much I love rice & using a rice cooker would make it so much easier to prepare :)

What exactly was I waiting for? Needless to say, I took the advice of a friend who reminded me previously not to leave anything unused. She reminds me constantly that there’s nothing in her closet that has a tag on it & that hasn’t been worn. Basically, if you don’t use it, who will? I was thinking this about the rice cooker! LOL. If something happened to me, then someone will feel like they’ve gotten a brand new item to use. Boy, this was somewhat of an eye-opener. Not because someone else would have it, but because I didn't enjoy what was given to me.

What tagged items do you still have? What box needs to be opened? Use these items! Don’t wait for another day, as it’s not guaranteed. The next moment isn’t promised to us, but yet we live on the pretense that it is.

So as we head into Christmas & some receive the gifts that we’ve been looking for (& a few surprises too), don’t put off enjoying the time, gifts, & such with your family & friends. If you get that bike, ride it! If you receive that new sweater, put it on! If you get plane tickets to go somewhere, go on that trip. More importantly, if you’re spending time with loved ones, remember the memories you make!!!

Until next time.

Praise Song: "I Call You Faithful"

This week's Praise Song is Donnie McClurkin's, "I Call You Faithful". This song reminds me of the power in the name of Jesus! He's all of the things mentioned in this song and more: faithful, awesome, holy, healer, Savior, and all that!!

This is definitely something for us to remember, especially during the Christmas season!! CHRISTmas!!! What an awesome God we serve.

Until next time.

Today's the Day!

Today's the day that I submitted my last grades for my 1st semester teaching. Wow, it has been interesting and enjoyable. I can say, I've learned a lot from my students & I am glad that they've walked away from the course with a better understanding of the subject! The next semester doesn't begin for a few weeks, so on hiatus I go!

I will also attempt to get all of my Christmas cards ready to be mailed today; I've sent out a few, but more need to go out in the mail by tomorrow or Tuesday in order to get there by Christmas. Wow, time waits for no one. I feel like the month of December has gotten away from me!

I'm sure that there are many out there still on the hunt for those last minute Christmas gifts; I'm thinking that I may hit up some after Christmas sales to make up for those I haven't bought gifts for yet.

Good luck with the preparations and shopping everyone! I'm looking forward to Christmas day & spending the time with family. That's what it's all about, afterall: Jesus & family. Focusing on what's truly important!

Until next time.

Blessings,

Praise Song: "Never Gonna Break My Faith"

This week's praise song is "Never Gonna Break My Faith" by Aretha Franklin featuring Mary J. Blige. This song is so powerful! It's from the movie "Bobby" about Robert F. Kennedy. This song is a reminder to hold onto faith, no matter what we see going on in the world around us. It reminds us that unanswered questions may exist, but we cannot lose sight of God. © Lisi P, 2009

My Lord, I have read this book so many times,
But nowhere can, can I find the page that says what I experienced today has any grace

Now I know that life is meant to be hard,
That's how I learned to appreciate my God
Though my courage may be tried,
I can tell you I wont hide,
Because the footprints show you were by my side

You can lie to a child with a smiling face,
Tell me that color aint about a race
You can cast the first stone,
You can break my bones
But you never gonna break,
You never gonna break my faith
Faith and hope aint yours to give
Truth and liberty are mine to live
Steal a crown from a king, break an angels wings
But you never gonna break ,
You never gonna break my faith

My Lord, wont you help them, help them, help them to understand
That when someone takes the life of an innocent man
Well they never really won
Because all they really done is set the soul free
Where it's supposed to be

You can lie to a child with a smiling face,
Tell me that color aint about a race
You can cast the first stone, you can break my bones
But you never gonna break,
You never gonna break my faith
Faith and hope aint yours to give
Truth and liberty are mine to live
Steal a crown from a king, break an angels wings
But you never gonna break,
You never gonna break my faith

For those we lose before their time,
I pray their souls will find a light
I know that the day will surely come, when it will be done
You never gonna break my faith
You never gonna break my faith

May we continue to pray for strength to continue!

Until next time.

The Princess and the Frog

Today is the day!!! "The Princess and the Frog" debuts today. I am excited about the opportunity to see the full movie (back in August, at my conference, we had a sneak preview of the first 30 minutes of the movie).

This is truly history for many African American/Black women and girls who dreamed of seeing a princess that looks like them. It definitely is a good thing to see a princess that "looks like us". I'm still amazed that it's taken this long for it to happen. I already went out and purchased my "Princess Tiana" doll :) Which was definitely a hard find; they are flying off the shelves.

Well, Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen will definitely have a big audience in store for them. With the voice talents of Anika Noni Rose ("Dream Girls"), Oprah, John Goodman, Terrence Howard, and more, we're in for a treat! Let's not forget the music and the setting being in New Orleans, Louisiana!

Here's a preview of the movie:

I truly think this will be a movie for everyone.

Enjoy!!!

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 12/9/09

Scripture: Ecclesiastes 11:4 He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.

Nugget: In this particular scripture, we see that those who wait around for the wind to shift in the right direction do not sow and those who wait for the clouds to shift do not reap. This also refers to things in life---we have to pray (seeking God’s guidance), step out and “go for it”, knowing that God always has our back. Sometimes, we try to wait until the “perfect” opportunity to step out and get things done. What we fail to realize is that for some things, there is no “perfect” time. We must step out on faith and let God do the rest.

Quote: “What exactly does it take to live the life of your dreams? Perfect timing? Fortunate opportunities? A million dollars in the bank? Not even close. It takes a decision; a simple decision that will ultimately test the strength of your commitment and the depth of your faith.” -Karen Wright

Praise Song: "Help Me Believe"

This week's Praise Song is Kirk Franklin's, "Help Me Believe". Sometimes we go through things that test our faith; we are seeking that desire to believe God, in spite of our situation. We reach out for that faith, even mustard seed faith. Keep seeking God for that desire and for that will to continue on. He's there through all situations. © Lisi P, 2009

"I just want to write you a letter. I have to be very honest with you right now. I don't really know how to say this..."

Verse 1:
I wanna believe
But I'm having a hard time seeing past what I see right now, I see right now
I wanna be free
But when I try to fly I realize I don't know how, no one showed me how
Wish I could see that this mess I'm in will really work out for my good, you said it would
so, if you can hear me, can you give me a sign cause I dont feel you like I should, please if you could
my faith is almost gone, I can't hold on much longer, take this cup from me

Chorus A:
Help me Believe
Can I believe
Let Me believe
I wanna believe
I'm no good on my own, please give me another chance
It's hard to believe in what I can't see
to give you my will cause you're what's better for me
you can look in my eyes and see I wanna believe, believe, believe, believe

Verse 2:
(I want you to know)
I wanna believe
if I never hear I'm sorry I can let it go, gotta let you go
cause, it's killing me. Jesus you know how it feels cause you've been hurt before, don't wanna hurt no more
I'm trying to hear you speak, but my heart is growing weaker, take this cup from me

Chorus B:
Help me Believe
Can I Believe
Let me Believe
I wanna Believe
I've been here before and can't take that hurt again
It's hard to believe in what I can't see
to give you my will cause you're what's better for me
you can look in my eyes and see I wanna believe, believe, believe, believe

Bridge:
Believe_________
Believe_________

Verse 3:
I wanna believe when I close my eyes on this side I'll wake up with you, more in love with you and, and finally, you will say my race it is over and my work is through, cause I believed in you
I know dark nights will come and some days there'll be no sunshine and you're too far to see

One of Those Days....

We've all had one of those days! You know, the days where things and people agitate you. Monday was that day for me. My agitation stemmed from the furniture place not delivering what I ordered for the 3rd time!! It boggled my mind as to how a company could come and bring not once, not twice, but three times, the item I did not want and had repeatedly stated this. Needless to say, later that evening I showed up at the store, spoke to the manager, & finally got things straightened out. Maybe on the next delivery it will be correct. LOL

Other than the craziness of the delivery, things are well. Thanksgiving was great and Christmas is on the horizon. I remind myself daily to count all blessings in the midst of what's going on. I'm learning not to let the little things (and some big things) get to me. I think this is a continuous work in progress! LOL. But progress is good, right?

So hopefully, my lessons of dealing with the furniture place have paid off. I don't like to repeat the tests that God presents me :) So maybe, just maybe, He's looking down saying, "She finally got it".

So my friends, learn from lessons, they are presented daily. Take the good with the bad & know what to focus on. There's a solution somewhere in there & most times, a lesson in the process!!

Until next time.

Blessings,

Daily Scriptures 12/1/09

Scripture: Luke 2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

Nugget: As we begin December and Christmas approaches, let us not lose sight of what Christmas is all about. It’s easy to get caught up in the shopping and spending, but Jesus is the reason for the season!!

We are saved because of Him! Our Savior was born in a manger with the most humble beginnings, but is the most important being/person/element/etc. in our lives! Don’t celebrate CHRISTmas without Him in it!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!! May you & your family be blessed today & always!!

Thanksgiving Prayer

O God, when I have food,
help me to remember the hungry;

When I have work,
help me to remember the jobless;

When I have a home,
help me to remember
those who have no home at all...

Help me to destroy my complacency;
bestir my compassion,
and be concerned enough to help,
by word and deed,
those who cry out
for what we take for granted.

-Samuel F. Pugh

Our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name. -I Chronicles 29:13

May we count all blessings and take nothing for granted! Pray for those who are less fortunate and keep God first.

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 11/24/09

Scripture: I Samuel 15:24 And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.

Nugget: Saul was explaining to Samuel the reason for his disobedience - he feared the people. The fear of man is a snare. It is the challenge most of us face in various areas of our lives - fear of man aka peer approval aka people pleasing. We need to get to a point where we are freed from what people think of us, or what we feel they can do to us. The same God who has commanded you to do X, is more than willing and able to keep you.

Quote: "Your self-potrait determines your self-conduct." - Mike Murdock

Daily Scriptures 11/23/09

Scripture: I Samuel 15:17 And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed thee king over Israel?

Nugget: God promotes the humble. When Saul was "little in his own sight", God lifted him and made him King. But the minute he became King, he started seeing himself in a different light - he became unstoppable; and God who made him King became expendable. It's easy to be humble when you don't have much to brag about; but can you remain humble when God has really blessed you?

Quote: "Your reaction to greatness reveals your humility." - Mike Murdock

Daily Scriptures 11/20/09

Scriptures: I Samuel 15:3,9 3Now go and smite Amalek, and UTTERLY DESTROY all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass. 9But Saul and the people spared Agag (the king of the Amalekites), and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.

Nugget: Saul chose to interpret God's instruction according to his own wisdom. God said utterly destroy; Saul chose to utterly destroy the vile things, but "preserved" the good things - and later said (v 15) he spared those things to sacrifice unto the Lord. Partial obedience is still disobedience. Did God not know those things were "good" before he commanded they utterly be destroyed? Like Saul, our challenge is getting into reasoning - trying to adapt God's instructions so that it makes sense for us. God help us be obedient, and not "pick and choose" what part of his instructions are "okay" for us.

Quote: "God will never advance your instructions beyond your last act of disobedience." - Mike Murdock

For My Singletons, Pt. 11

I haven't spoken to my Singletons in a while! My single friends and I have been having various conversations about relationships and all that comes with them. Everyone wants that person God has for them, it's the waiting that tests all patience! LOL

Anywho, during these conversations we came up with some things! I think one of the #1 things is to think outside-of-the-box and to try new things. Get out, do something, and not to live life waiting. There's so much to enjoy in the meantime! For instance, take that trip, go to that game, enjoy that concert! You never know who you'll meet out there :)

My friends and I recently went to BB Kings Blues Club and Grill! What a great time: live performances, good food, and good company! You definitely should see if there's one in your area. You're guaranteed to enjoy it. Next up, a few plays to enjoy! And the list continues.

So fellow Singletons, "get out and do something". Don't put life on hold for anything or anyone. Enjoy living and see what comes your way, you never know :) Make a list of things you'd like to do and have been putting off and get started!

There's a lot to do and a lot to enjoy! And when that special someone comes along, you can just expand your list :)

Until next time.

Blessings,

~Lisi P.

Daily Scriptures 11/18/09

Scriptures: Proverbs 4:21-22 21 Don’t lose sight of them (God’s Word). Let them penetrate deep into your heart, 22 for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body. (NLT)

Nugget: There’s so much power in God’s Word, but if you don’t know them, then where does this get you? Daily, we must take the steps to learn the Word and to utilize them in our lives. This is where the power comes from! Not just knowing God’s Word is there, but studying them and knowing them for ourselves.

Daily Scriptures 11/17/09

Scripture: Psalm 40:4 Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods. (NIV)

Nugget: You either trust God or you don’t. There’s no middle ground. One cannot say that he/she trusts God and also puts his/her trust in other things.

We must hold fast to what God has promised us; there are no gray areas in His promises and His word!!

Next Movie: "The Blind Side"

The next movie I plan to see is "The Blind Side". I love "based upon a true story" movies that show triumph and overcoming obstacles, no matter the situation. This movie stars Sandra Bullock (who I think is a great actress), Tim McGraw, Kathy Bates, and Quinton Aaron.

From the previews, you can see this movie will tug at your heart strings and want you to do better; you will want to see others do better. I am looking forward to seeing it! And for us football lovers out there, you'll see the story of a football player on his journey.

Until next time.

Praise Song: "Love Him Like I Do"

This week's Praise Song is Deitrick Haddon's, "Love Him Like I Do" featuring Ruben Studdard and Mary Mary. This song is one of my cousin's favorites! I can see why: catchy beat, good artists, a good message, & praising the Lord. Enjoy!!

Love him Like I do
Love him Like I do
That’s why I love him like I do

Once again
Baby Dub, Mark Block, Deitrick,

Verse 1:
[Ruben]
Givin’ honor to first
The pastor, the church
My folks and friends
Listen to words
See God save me (yeah)
From myself when no one else was around
And it was only by his grace
His mercy, his favor
Cause I know I don’t deserve
All the love he show me (oh)
How he let me know (oh)
he never gonna leave my side

[Chorus]
That’s why I love him like I do iiiii (x2)
That’s why I love him like I do

That’s why I love him like I do iiiii
I love him like I do iiiii
That’s why I love him like I do
iiiii (x3)

Verse 2:
[Deitrick]
Dee Dee
See I gotta testimony
How to save my soul (soul)
When I was just a sinner left in the cold (cold)
Gave me a second chance
Save me from myself
Came to my rescue when I need help
Do you wanna know why I love him like I do (like I do)
Cause when my enemy said I was through
He took me from the bottom
And put me on the top
He laid his hands on me
And now I can’t be stopped

That’s why I love him like I do iiiii (x2)
That’s why I love him like I do

Somebody told me
That we over come by our testimonies
But you wouldn’t believe
How doubt and fear
Used to paralyze me
But God hands lead me through a test
And he brought out the very best in me
And now I’ll never forget
To tell the world
What you mean to me
(yeah yeah yeah)

That’s why I love him like I do iiiii (x2)
That’s why I love him like I do

Trying to Catch Up with Time!

Okay, so I know this isn't possible, but I'm trying to catch up with time, LOL. This year continues to pass us quickly by! There's still so much I have left to do. Hopefully, I can get it done in "time".

Well, the Professor in me is doing well. I'm enjoying instructing and the students are good. There's definitely a continuous learning cycle for me going on. It's an exciting experience. My daily job is going well too. I can't believe it's been 10 months already on my job! I might as well say, it's almost a year. I'm continuing to learn there & am enjoying it. :)

With Thanksgiving on the horizon and Christmas around the corner, there's a lot left to do! I did buy my first Christmas tree for my new place. I cannot wait to decorate it. I already have the spot picked out where I want it to be.

Black Friday is coming!! I'm looking for some good deals. There's nothing I particularly need, but maybe a few things I want. I think I'll browse around for things for my family & friends. Can't wait to see what deals are out there!

Okay everyone, let's buckle down & hang on for the ride. 2009 is ending sooner than later. Let us get things in order, move things out of the way that don't need to be around us, & continue to be better & do better than we have the day before! 2010 is coming & we want a great start!

Until next time.

Blessings,

Daily Scriptures 11/13/09

Scripture: Proverbs 22:15 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child, but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

Nugget: Don't be frustrated, your child is not crazy! Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child. It comes with them "for free"! Your role is to drive it far from them - not with abuse, not with anger, not with frustration, but with correction. Correct with love and get the message across. Children must be "trained" to be wise and you are the trainer.

Daily Scriptures 11/12/09

Scripture: Proverbs 29:15 The rod and reproof give wisdom; but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.

Nugget: It is not being mean to correct/discipline your child; it is actually showing them love. In fact, not just children - but anyone; if you love someone, you will correct them if you think they are going off-track. Obviously, your manner of correction (tone, style, etc.) should be appropriate so your message gets heard. "A child left to himself....". No child should be allowed to define their own rules.....they should be guided.

Daily Scriptures 11/10/09

Scripture: Proverbs 29:12 If a ruler hearkens to lies, all his servants are wicked.

Nugget: Your followers are a reflection of the values you espouse. Culture change does not start from the bottom, it starts from the top. It starts by the leaders defining what behaviors get rewarded, and what behaviors don't. Think on it.

Daily Scriptures 11/9/09

Scripture: Proverbs 25:19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.

Nugget: The only way to not have unfaithful people around you during times of trouble, is to choose not to have them around you period. You can't say, "I know this person isn't trustworthy, but we are not so close" or "I just need them for xyz but won't bring them so close" or "we just do business together and that's it". Yeah, whatever. If you keep such jokers around you during the good times - you will have only yourself to blame when in times of trouble you have a "broken tooth and a foot out of joint". Nothing is inconsequential. We like to think that. But our outcomes, our current situations (miracles or tragedies; happiness or sadness) are merely outcomes of a series of "little inconsequential" decisions.

Praise Song: "You Covered Me"

This week's Praise Song is Donald Lawrence's, "You Covered Me" (featuring Hezekiah Walker). With so much going on (the shootings in Ft. Hood and in Central Florida), we must remember to stay prayed up and know that we are continually covered by God due to His mercy and grace.

May we continue to pray for each other, stay uplifted, and be encouraged. In the midst of it all, we must not lose focus on God! May the families of the lost and injured be uplifted through our prayers and His strength. © Lisi P, 2009

I could’ve lost my mind, wanted to give up so many times,
but God was my anchor, a consisted way maker
Hez I’m grateful God covered me (Go on and sing the song pastor)

Daily Scriptures 11/6/09

Scripture: Proverbs 27:4 Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?

Nugget: There are levels and levels. Some people might not like you; can't stand you. That is one level. Others might envy you - be extremely jealous (for reasons you can't even understand) - that's another level. Discern envy amongst those around you and disconnect; in fact flee/disassociate from those who envy you for whatever reason.

Some of us are actually flattered when people envy us. What a pity. Also, manage your behavior and disclosure. Some of us actually promote envy by the way we act, stories we tell, etc. The extent to which envy can go has no limits - "wrath is cruel; anger outrageous; but who can stand before envy??????"

Quote: "Jealousy is believing another received what you deserved." - Mike Murdock

Daily Scriptures 11/5/09

Scripture: Proverbs 27:5 Open rebuke is better than secret love.

Nugget: Most of us dread conflict, confrontation - but at times confrontation is the ultimate test of true love. When you get to the point where you are compelled to confront a loved one about their behaviour or about something you think is putting them in danger, even if it costs you the relationship, but at least you give them the opportunity to face the reality. May God give us the confidence and boldness to speak the truth in love to those we love, even when we know the truth hurts.

Daily Scriptures 11/4/09

Scriptures: Proverbs 27:9 Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart; so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.

Nugget: Who are the people you tend to seek out for counsel? Identify them, and treasure them. Value them - Those are your true friends. Also, identify people you call "your friends", but you would never, I mean even in your worst nightmare, you would never ask them for their opinion or advice. Re-evaluate those so called friends - they probably should not be defined as such.

Daily Scriptures 11/2/09

Scripture: Jeremiah 33:3 'Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.' (NIV)

Nugget: God was telling Jeremiah to come to Him for help. In the midst of what was going on, God still offered help in Jeremiah’s situation. That’s how God is with us! He is always there, no matter what we get ourselves into. We must know that we can seek God continually!

Are you seeking God for the situations and circumstances in your life? He’s there & understands us better than we can ever imagine. Go to Him.

Praise Song: "God in Me"

This week's Praise Song is Mary Mary's, "God in Me". This song had to grow on me, but I had to see what they were talking about!! The song refers to someone having something that you may want or may be trying to figure out how he/she got it. The truth is, we don't know what a person went through to get to where he/she is now; they had to cry sometimes, pray a lot of times, & hold fast to God most of the time!!! God is good. All we have is because of Him. Continue to show the "God in you" & give Him all the glory & praise.

You're listening to The Sound

I just wanna tell the truth mayne
I just wanna tell the truth mayne
I just wanna tell the truth mayne
I just wanna tell the truth mayne

You're so fly, you're so high
Everybody 'round you trying to figure out why
You're so cool, you win all the time
Everywhere you go, man you get a lot of shine

You draw like a magnet, better yet I have it
Everything you wear people say they gotta have it
From the sweat suit to the white tee to the Gucci
You can probably say people wanna get like me

But what they don't know is when you go home
And get behind closed doors, man you hit the floor
And what they can't see is you're on you're knees
So the next time you get it just tell 'em

It's the God in me, it's the God in me
It's the God in me, it's the God in me
It's the God in me

You think I'm so fresh, you think I'm so clean
You think I'm so sweet
It's the God in me, it's the God in me
It's the God in me

You see her style, you think she nice
You look at her whip, you say the whip tight
You look at her crib, you thinking she's paid
You look at her life, you think she's got it made

But everything she's got, the girl's been given
She call it a blessing but you call it living
When it come to money she can be a hero
She writes them checks with a whole lot of zeros

But what you don't know is when she get home
And get behind closed doors, man she hit the floor
And what you can't see is she on her knees
And if you ask her she'll tell you

It's the God in me, it's the God in me
It's the God in me, it's the God in me
It's the God in me

You think I'm so fresh, you think I'm so clean
You think I'm so sweet
It's the God in me, it's the God in me
It's the God in me

What is it you think you see when you see me, you see me?
You don't know how much I pray
Don't know how much I gave, don't know how much I changed
I'm just tryna explain

It's the God in me, it's the God in me
It's the God in me, it's the God in me
It's the God in me

You think I'm so fresh, you think I'm so clean
You think I'm so sweet
It's the God in me, it's the God in me
It's the God in me, It's the God in me

You think I'm so fresh, you think I'm so clean
You think I'm so sweet
It's the God in me

Daily Scriptures 10/30/09

Scriptures: I Samuel 17:39: And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.

Nugget: David was getting ready to fight Goliath, and King Saul felt it was only appropriate for him to be girded with the fanciest tools. But David said he couldn't go with those tools, cause "he had not proved them". Deep. Go to battle with tried and tested tools. You don't go into the deep end with materials you haven't tested; you don't launch a new product with "brand new" employees (no matter how good they supposedly are); you don't accept a role to rescue a company that is dying in an area where you have absolutely no experience; etc. Also note, you don't choose "sophisticated" tools, even when they look better than your usual tool set, so far they haven't been "proven". God help us!

Daily Scriptures 10/29/09

Scriptures: I Samuel 17:33,36-37 33And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth. 36Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God. 37David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.

Nugget: David was disqualified by Saul based on his "inexperience". However, it is interesting to note that at times it's not your "technical experience" that qualifies you, but your experiences with God. David was confident he could defeat Goliath because a) he could recall past victories that God had enabled b) he knew based on covenant that Goliath should be defeated because he was defying God's army.

We need to be like David and learn to trust God more. First, locate the promise of God that speaks to our situation; and secondly, recall God's faithfulness in previous situations and build up our faith and assure ourselves that if God did it then, he can surely do it again.

Daily Scriptures 10/28/09

Scriptures: I Samuel 16:6-7 6And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD's anointed is before him. 7But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

Nugget: Amusing that even Samuel, a discerning prophet, was found guilty of making judgement based solely on outward appearances. We must pray for grace and discernment to see the way God sees - which is not on the outward appearance, but on the heart. How do you know what is in the heart? The Bible says out of the abundance of the heart, a man speaketh. Listen....listen closely.

Time Flies!!

Time definitely waits for no one! This year is almost over & I still have so much to get done! LOL, yes gotta stay on the grind to accomplish more goals. But I'm learning that taking a break is a good thing as well :)

So with Thanksgiving and Christmas coming upon us, I hope that we all put time aside to rest, relax, & spend time with family & friends. Of course, a moment to yourself is not bad from time to time!

I've definitely learned not to take good things & people for granted. We must keep this in mind as time goes on. I think this time of the year makes us reflect on all of these things. To be grateful, to know that we are blessed in spite of how things may seem, to know that everything will be okay. The list goes on.

So as this year is getting away from us, don't live each day without being different or doing something different than you did yesterday! Today is our 2nd chance to get it right!!! What would you do differently today than you did yesterday???

Until next time.

Blessings,

Daily Scriptures 10/27/09

Scriptures: I Samuel 13:11-12 11And Samuel said, What hast thou done? And Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou camest not within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered themselves together at Michmash; 12Therefore said I, The Philistines will come down now upon me to Gilgal, and I have not made supplication unto the LORD: I forced myself therefore, and offered a burnt offering.

Nugget: Saul was driven to make the offering because:

a) he felt he was losing control
b) things were not happening on his own time schedule
c) his own estimated calculations of what would happen if he didn't act.

Sounds familiar right? We need to get comfortable in "losing control"; and not working things out according to our own reasoning; lastly, things not happening on our own time schedule. The most important thing is "did God say"? If God said, then pray for grace to endure until you obtain what He promised.

Daily Scriptures 10/26/09

Scriptures: I Samuel 13:8-10 8And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him. 9And Saul said, Bring hither a burnt offering to me, and peace offerings. And he offered the burnt offering. 10And it came to pass, that as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might salute him.

Nugget: Samuel told Saul to wait and not make a burnt offering until he arrives. Saul waited 7 days and felt he was losing control (the people scattered from him), so he went ahead and made the offering. As soon as he made the offering, Samuel shows up. Just as it is with our lives - the minute we "give up and give in" on that thing God promised us, the long awaited thing arrives; but unfortunately we no longer qualify. We must pray for perseverance; for God to give us grace to endure and to hold out for what he has promised us - even when it looks unlikely and unrealistic - cause it's precisely at that moment, the promise will show up.

Praise Song: "Power"

This week's Praise Song is Smokie Norful's, "Power". It reminds us of the Power we have in the Lord!!! Utilize it!!!!

I was going through life
I was carrying a heavy load
Even though I wore a smile like a clown
My burdens were too heavey for me to hold
But now I made up my mind
I ain't walking looking down at the floor
Stand up and put my chin in the air
Cause I gotta let the whole world know
God gave me (Power!)

That makes me feel the way I do (Power!)
Listen you can feel the same way too (Power!)
When I couldn't make it God showed me how (Power!)
Point to yourself and say I'm alright now

I'm reminded of the day
When I thought I would loose my mind
My head was spinning like a merry-go-round
Felt like I was running out of time
Now I made up my mind ain't living this way no more
Stand up, put my chin in the air

That makes me feel the way I do (Power!)
Listen you can feel the same way too (Power!)
When I couldn't make it God showed me how (Power!)
Point to yourself and say I'm alright now

For those who feel like giving up and the enemy is defeating you
I brought some news from glory y'all, Jesus gave you that same power too!
I'm talkin' 'bout that Holy Ghost power

Power, to chase my blue skies away
Power, to see the sun on a rainy day
Power, to feel good when I should be crying
Power, to live when everybody else is dying
Power, to make you walk right
Power, to make you talk right

You can make it, you can make it
Sho' nuff y'all can make it (Repeat)

You can listen to "Power" HERE

Until next time.

Blessings,

Daily Scriptures 10/23/09

Scripture: Proverbs 9:6 Leave your simple ways and you will live; walk in the way of understanding. (NIV)

Nugget: Learn to use good judgment - so apparently we are not born with this stuff, it's something we learn - we get it from regular usage, from practice. That's encouraging because it means it's not like we are born with this stuff - so a one shot thing, either we get it or we don't get it; it's not just reserved for certain types of people; or for certain ages; or for 'wise men', etc. But it shows that we can ALL have it - it's a learned skill. Even the most 'simple' person today, can become the 'wise man' of tomorrow.

Daily Scriptures 10/22/09

Scripture: Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

Nugget: We can eliminate so many arguments and quarrels before they even start, if we would just follow the simple advice of responding with 'soft answers'. The problem however is that too many times we could care less about responding with a soft answer; we want to defend ourselves; we feel why the heck should someone speak to us in that tone in the first place; or "it's all their fault", etc.

And yes, while those reasons might be valid, the bottom line is that a 'grievous' response does not result in peace. If it's peace we want; if we want to know how to eliminate arguments before they start; if we want to be people that others can't fight with, all we need to do is respond with soft answers. It's our choice whether there would be a fight or not - cause it takes two to tango; if you refuse to fight, another person can't fight with you.

Another Year!!!!

Whoooo hoooo, God is good!!! Blessing me to see another year of life! I am too grateful. This past year has been a good one. There have been many lessons learned, somethings have been lost, and others added to my life. Whatever the case may be, I know that God worked it all out for my good & continues to do so!

So what do I expect this year?? To take things as they come, to appreciate each day more & more, & to finally get down the importance of rest!!! LOL Hopefully, these will be lessons learned before the next birthday :)

So here's to another year, and also importantly, another day that God has allowed me to see. Let me do Him proud!!

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 10/21/09

Scripture: Psalm 37:8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

Nugget: Anger is one of the toughest emotions to control. It is the immediate reaction to a lot of situations and occurrences in our lives. However, reacting in anger can result in some unwise and regretful decisions - and your temper will always come back to bite you in the worst possible situation. Try to think before you react in anger to the things that happen. As difficult as this may be---think then react!

Scripture: Psalm 51:12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. (NIV)

Nugget: Sometimes we go through so much & need to be restored. We get to the point where we are seeking that willing spirit to do God’s will and to act in His way. Don’t lose sight of God in the midst of the storm and the on-goings of daily life. Seek God’s guidance for that willing spirit and restoration. Praise Song: "It Ain't Over"

This week's Praise Song is Maurette Brown Clark's, "It Ain't Over". A friend sent this song to me and what a powerful word it contains!! Be encouraged and know that God's in control!!!

Verse I
I know the odds are stacked against you
And it seems there's no way out
I know the issue seems unchangeable
And that there's no reason to shout
But the impossible is God's chance
To work a miracle, a miracle
So just know

Chorus
It ain't over until God says it's over
It ain't over until God says it's done
It ain't over until God says it's over
Keep fighting until your victory is won

Verse II
He never said it would be easy
But you're a winner in the end
Jesus defeated all your enemies
Way before the fight began
But the impossible is God's chance
To work a miracle, a miracle
So just know

Chorus

Bridge
When people say you can't, remember
(He can, He can)
When you don't know what to do,
Please remember
(He has the master plan)
He will free you from your sin
And give you peace within
So hold your head up high
You're gonna win
(You're gonna win)

Chorus

Vamp
Keep fighting, keep praying, keep fasting
It ain't over, no
Keep pressing, progressing, keep moving
It ain't over, no
Keep reading, interceding, keep believing
It ain't over, no
Keep trusting, keep trying, keep travailing
It ain't over, no
Keep living, keep giving, keep going
It ain't over, no (8x)
Keep fighting until your victory is won

I pray that this song touches you and encourages you!

Until next time.

Scriptures: Genesis 2:2-3 2And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Nugget: God knew the importance of rest!! After everything He completed, making the earth and all that’s in it: He rested!! Oh if we could just follow His example! Rest is so important in our lives; we must rest just like we work. God mentioned the importance of it, now we must follow His lead.

Appreciating the Good Times.....

Good times!!!! I've been appreciating them more & more. Spending time with friends, spending time with God, spending time meditating, enjoying the work day, & the list goes on & on!

Today I spent time with my friend & niece. What a nice afternoon to catch up & reflect. On top of this, Auntie loves her little niece!! Too cute. There's so much that we take for granted & need to take the time to look at & thank God for. The other week, I had the opportunity to sit on the porch w/ my child-cat. I haven't done that in a long time! Just to sit & relax. What a thought. LOL. Especially for me, the one who loves to be on the go!

Work is going well. I can't believe that I've been on my "new" job 9 months now!! Wow, time passes by so quickly. Things are going well there; I'm so blessed & grateful for this! My online teaching is going well too. What a first week I've had, getting acclimated to everything, but again Good Times!!!

Count all blessings, everyone! Don't take anything for granted, & take the good with the bad. There are blessings in everything. We must take the time to look at them & remember the Good Times!!!

Until next time.

Blessings,

Will you be a witness; yes I'll be a witness
Want the world to know He saved my soul
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ
In it there's joy, power, wisdom and might

Daily Scriptures 10/9/09

Scriptures: 1 Samuel 3:10-11 10And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth. 11And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle.

Nugget: God had called Samuel three times prior, but it was only after Samuel said "Speak, for thy servant heareth" that He spoke. God will never force Himself on us. He is waiting for an invitation to come in. He is there; ready to go - but will never intrude. But once we invite Him, He will come in. That is why anything or anyone that is manipulative is not of God, no matter how much they call God's name. God is and always has been a God of choice and free-will.

Daily Scriptures 10/8/09

Scriptures: 1 Samuel 3:7-9 7 Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD : The word of the LORD had not yet been revealed to him. 8 The LORD called Samuel a third time, and Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, "Here I am; you called me." Then Eli realized that the LORD was calling the boy. 9 So Eli told Samuel, "Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, 'Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.' " So Samuel went and lay down in his place. (NIV)

Nugget: God had called Samuel three times, but he did not recognize God's voice - so he thought it was Eli. By the third time, Eli, who knew he was not calling Samuel, perceived it is God calling this child. He was then able to advise Samuel on what to do the next time he heard the voice.

At times it takes an older and more experienced person to perceive what God is trying to do with you; to open your eyes to a situation, an opportunity, etc. Our role is to be humble enough to seek wise counsel. However, don't just listen and receive it: but do it!

Daily Scriptures 10/7/09

Scripture: I Samuel 2:35 And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed for ever.

Nugget: God is looking for faithful people. Faithful in the verse above is a man that does according to that which is in God's heart and in his mind. It means a faithful man must have both "knowledge" and "action". Knowledge - to know what is in God's heart and mind; Action - to do; to follow through.

Faithful is defined in the dictionary as: a) Strict or thorough in the performance of duty; b) true to one's word, promises, vows, etc. c) Steady in allegiance or affection; loyal; constant. d) Reliable, trusted, or believed.

Faithfulness creates favor. We run around looking for handouts, favors, etc; but faithfulness in all your doings will guarantee you favor with God and man.

Daily Scriptures 10/6/09

Scripture: I Samuel 2:30 Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

Nugget: The key to honor is to honor God - above all things; above all people. Eli was a priest of God whom God eventually rejected because he allowed his sons to commit serious transgressions in the temple (sleeping with the congregation; taking the best offerings, etc). Eli's sin was not that his sons did not walk in the way of God - after all, each man must answer to God for himself; but his sin was that he chose not to offend his sons - mildly rebuking them, versus cutting them off.

Daily Scriptures 10/5/09

Scripture: 1 Samuel 1:8 Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?

Nugget: Hannah was depressed and weeping because she was barren. Her husband could not imagine why she was not satisfied, given that he loved her, treated her well, etc. He said, "am not I better to thee than ten sons"? We must learn to realize that people's rejection or desires are not about us - it's about them, and what they want - it's irrespective of you. Hannah wasn't saying her husband was better to her or worse than ten sons, but all she was saying was she wanted a child - period. Didn't matter how good or how bad her husband was; was irrespective of him. Don't be an Elkanah - try not to judge/measure yourself through people's desires or requests.

Praise Song: "God Favored Me"

Our choir sang Hezekiah Walker's "God Favored Me" in church today. What a beautiful song! Reminds me that, no matter what, when God's hand is on me, nothing can hinder what He has coming my way!! God's favor, how amazing!!!

This is my testimony everybody, how God favored
me inspite
of my enemies, and if God did it for me he'll do the
same thing for you. Don't worry about your haters
your haters can't do nothing with you. Listen to these words

Verse 1
Love is patient, caring. Love is Kind. Love is felt most when
it's genuine, but I've had my share of love, abuse, manipulated
and it's strength misued, and I can't help but give you glory
when I think about my story, and I know you favored me
because my enemies did try but couldn't triumph over me
Yes they did try but couldn't triumph over me.

I'm still here, I'm still alive, I'm still blessed, on my way to
my destiny, because the favor of God is on my life. Let me
tell you about love.

Verse 2
Love is patient, caring. Love is Kind. Love is felt most when
it's genuine, but I had my share of love, abuse, manipulated
and it's strength misued, and I can't help but give you glory,
when I think about my story, and I know you favored me
because my enemies did try but couldn't triumph over me
Yes they did try but couldn't triumph over me.

Verse 3
They whispered, conspired, they told their lies (God favors me)
My character, my integrity, my faith in God (He favors me)
Will not fall, will not bend, won't compromise (God favors me)
I speak life and prosperity and I speak health (God favors me)
Repeat 2x

Say Yes (Yes), Yes (Yes), Yes (Yes) God favors me
Say Yes (Yes), Yes (Yes), Say Yes (Yes) God favors me (God favors me)
Repeat 2x

Until next time.

Blessings,

Daily Scriptures 10/2/09

Scripture: Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

Nugget: Trusting in the Lord means safety, while fearing people is a dangerous trap. This is why it’s so important to be careful who you surround yourself with, who you let speak in your life, who is a part of your life, etc. Sometimes certain people bring nothing but roadblocks to you and to your life.

You must put your trust in the Lord, no matter what’s going on: He consistently wants what’s best for you.

Happy October!!

October is here!! My favorite month. Not only is the weather great, but it's my birthday month! Thanking God for each day, because they aren't guaranteed! Happy birthday fellow Libras! (and Scorpios) :)

This month is also National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. May we pray for those battling cancer, those who have survived cancer, & those who have lost loved ones to cancer. There are also many opportunities to get involved in the events of this month. Check out things in your local area. A good site to visit is the Susan G. Komen website (http://ww5.komen.org/) for more information.

May we stay prayed up & be encouraged at all times. Another day, another gift!! Happy October.

Until next time.

Blessings,

Daily Scriptures 9/30/09

Scriptures: Philippians 1:9-10 9I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. 10For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. (NLT)

Nugget: Each day, we should try to be better than we were the day before. After all, it’s another day to get it right! We should be growing in knowledge, understanding, and as a person, continuing to prepare ourselves for Christ’s return.

What would you do differently today than yesterday, if you could do it all over again? Well, here’s your chance, use it wisely!

Quote: “The knowledge of Christ's love for us should cause us to love Him in such a way that it is demonstrated in our attitude, conduct, and commitment to serve God. Spiritual maturity is marked by spiritual knowledge being put into action.” –Edward Bedore

Daily Scriptures 9/29/09

Scripture: Job 23:10 But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold. (NIV)

Nugget: Job faced the ultimate test and he passed. Job didn’t lose sight of God, knowing that God had his back & then some!! Sometimes, we go through similar tests, but don’t have the same outlook. We get weak, worried, scared, & more. But God knows what the tests & trials of our lives are to bring out of us. He sees beyond the moment we’re in to the future He has laid out for us.

We must remember that at all times, God loves us. This love is sometimes demonstrated in the tough love shown to us by our parents. Just as with parents & tough love, God’s tough love brings out the destiny He has planned for us!

Daily Scriptures 9/28/09

Scripture: 3 John 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

Nugget: There’s nothing like a parent seeing their children walking in the truth that was taught to them. When children take the lessons their parents taught them and utilize these lessons in their lives, it has to make any parent proud. When these lessons and knowledge include God, they’re things a child never forgets: to walk in truth!!

Parents, continue to encourage your children, teaching them life lessons. Children, listen to your parents, even when you think what they are saying doesn’t “sound right”, it could be right later on!!

Quote: “It's not only children who grow. Parents do too. As much as we watch to see what our children do with their lives, they are watching us to see what we do with ours. I can't tell my children to reach for the sun. All I can do is reach for it, myself.” -Joyce Maynard

Praise Song: "Praise Him in Advance"

There's nothing like praising God!! Despite your circumstances, good or bad, He must be uplifted in praise. With all that God bestows upon us, He deserves it. Don't always take the tough times as completely bad times, blessings are on the horizon!! This week's praise song is Marvin Sapp's, "Praise Him in Advance".

I’ve had my share of ups and downs, times when there was no one around, God came and spoke these words to me, praise will confuse the enemy. (repeat 2x)

I started singing, I started clapping, I started dancing, people were laughing, they knew my problems, they knew my pain, but I knew God would take them away.

I have my share of ups and downs, times when there was no one around, God came and spoke these words to me, praise will confuse the enemy. (repeat 2x)

I started singing, I started clapping, I started dancing, people were laughing, they knew my problems, they knew my pain, but I knew God would take them away.

That’s why I praise him with my hands, that’s why I praise him with a dance, He’s given me a second chance, come on lets praise him in advance.

That’s why I praise him with a song, when things are right and when they’re wrong, He’s given me a second chance, come on lets praise Him in advance.

Praise Him
Praise Him
Praise Him
Praise Him
Praise Him
Praise Him
Praise Him in advance

Professor!!

God is good! I've been blessed with the opportunity to teach online. This is my first try at it & I'm excited. Not sure if an online instructor is a Professor, but I'll go with it for now :)

I know it will be a challenge, but I'm up to it. I want to do a great job & encourage students to do well. I know what it's like to be in class, to work hard, & to know in the end that it was all worth it. I encourage anyone who is seeking to further his/her education, to do so. Don't let anything hold you back!

I remember going to graduation ceremonies where grandmothers were graduating with their grandchildren!! How amazing. There's no time limit nor age limit on achieving goals. It's never too late to get started either.

Don't put off for tomorrow what you can do today!!

Praying for my first semester to go well.

Until next time.

Blessings,

Daily Scriptures 9/25/09

Scripture: Genesis 48:11 And Israel (Jacob) said unto Joseph, I had not thought to see thy face: and, lo, God hath shewed me also thy seed.

Nugget: Jacob was tripped with just seeing Joseph - the son he assumed was dead and in his wildest dreams never thought he would see again. But God showed him not just Joseph, but Joseph's kids. That is just God for you - able to do above and beyond our expectations. Lord help us be patient enough to see You perform.

Daily Scriptures 9/24/09

Scriptures: Genesis 45:4 & 8: 4And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt. 8So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.

Nugget: Joseph forgave his brothers for selling him into slavery. He saw God's purpose in their iniquity. He didn't deny the evil they had done, but he said despite this evil, don't worry, because God had a bigger plan. Amazing. It's not easy to not live in the past; to not try to understand, to reconcile why the heck your brothers did that, even when you know the outcome.

There is just something about human nature that seeks to understand. But it's better to have grace like Joseph to see God's hand and purpose even in the evil that was done to you, and write-off the evil. Easier said than done; but absolutely key for us to do in this journey called life.

Daily Scriptures 9/23/09

Scripture: Genesis 43:14 And may God Almighty grant you mercy before the man so that he will let your other brother and Benjamin come back with you. As for me, if I am bereaved, I am bereaved." (NIV)

Nugget: At times, we all must get to the point of "If I perish, I perish" in order to move forward. Jacob was in a situation where he had lost Joseph, his beloved son, and now was being asked to send Benjamin (his other beloved son) to Egypt with the possibility that he might not return. However, they were in the midst of a famine, and the only way to get food was to send Benjamin on this trip. That's life at times. We get to a crossroad where all the options look crappy, but look again - they say opportunity usually lies at the curve of crisis, and at times it just requires having some faith. God help our faith.

Daily Scriptures 9/22/09

Scripture: Romans 15:7 Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. (NLT)

Nugget: Accept one another—why is it so hard for us to do this? When there are differences, as well as similarities, between people, we still don’t get it. Accept one another, just as Christ accepted each of us & our differences. That’s some deep love!! If only we can follow His example & stop all of the nonsense in between, how different things could be!!

What could you change about yourself in order to be more accepting of others?

Fall is Here!!!

Today is the first day of Autumn/Fall. According the the calendar, it's here!!!!! Yay, my favorite time of the year. I am waiting for it to get cool, but it may take a while here in the Sunshine State. Now, I'm not referring to cold, but cool!! LOL

When this time of the year arrives, I wish I was up North to see the leaves changing colors & the changing of the seasons! I just think it's amazing to see God working & the beauty that goes with the seasons.

Happy first day of Autumn!!!
Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 9/21/09

Scriptures: Psalm 29:3-4 3The voice of the Lord echoes above the sea. The God of glory thunders. The Lord thunders over the mighty sea. 4The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic. (NLT)

Nugget: God’s voice!! What a powerful thing. This is why it’s so important for us to seek Him in all we do. I think that at times, God speaks directly to us, & at other times, He sends confirmation through others. It’s up to us to pay attention & to seek discernment (because everyone who speaks into your life isn’t speaking on behalf of God).

Look for God’s continuous presence in your life: He’s there speaking to you.

The Latest.....

So last week was slow & tiring!! What a long week. I cannot complain though; everyday is a gift & a blessing.

I've been doing more volunteering in the past month: with church & with other things. All has been coming together nicely, but again, my body is letting me know about the importance of rest. So today consisted of church (which was amazing) & watching some football!!! Church was great; the praise & worship can always lift any spirit. I know that I am truly blessed to have found my church home!

As for football, glad that football season is here, both for the NFL & college. Me being an alumni of my university, am so glad that we won yesterday! Nothing like a win to get the season going. As for the NFL, I've had one or two favorite teams, so we'll see how this season goes. I do miss Tony Dungy as a coach; what a faithful man of God. He always speaks with knowledge & faith. I think that I'm going to have to read his book for sure.

Work is going well. I cannot believe that it's been 8 1/2 months for me on my job. Time sure flies. What a difference time makes :) Doing a lot better with things & continuing to learn. I really like what I do.

I'm continuing to work on my writing; it's been difficult to fit everything in, but I must continue to do what I love.

I hope that the weeks & days have been treating you all well. Keep the faith & remember, each day is a gift no matter what's going on!!!

Until next time.

Blessings,

Praise Song: "Lift Him Up"

Today's Praise Song is Yolanda Adams' "Lift Him Up" featuring Donnie McClurkin and Mary Mary. This one is from her "Day by Day" CD. Love it!!!!

Oh Lord, Oh Lord we lift you ooh we lift you up yeah yeah yeah

[Verse 1:]
Raise my voice in testimony
'cause he's more than a friend to me
Gave my heart 'cause I believe he's the almighty
I can look at my life and see all the things that
He's done to set me free protecting me from harm
Raise my hands to show how I feel
His presence is oh so real
Till he's guiding me I'll be still
'cause I'd be lost without him
My heart and soul I dedicate and to show I appreciate his love
I'll give him praise

[Chorus:]
Lift Him up
Each and everyday we celebrate our faith
(Lift Him Up)
In a song of praise thanking him for everything (Lift Him up)
Devotion I express because I know I'm blessed (Lift Him up)
Praise Him with every breath
Glorify His name, Lift Him up

[Verse 2:]
Use the temple He gave us
Do a joyful dance of worship
'cause His mercy is so precious and new every morning
Always let Him know that we're grateful for another chance to say thank you
'Round the world sing it louder, for our heavenly father
To his almighty power
Let's glorify him, magnify him

[Repeat Chorus 2x]

You created the earth and the heavens above
And for our salvation you gave your own son
So we humble ourselves to your infinite power
Your love is greater than mine
(Your grace) and your grace is amazing
And through us we lift your holy name

[Repeat Chorus 2x]

My you be uplifted today!!

Until next time.

Blessings,
