TGIF Everyone!!!

It's Friday!! Yay!!! Not that I've had a bad week, just a busy one. By Friday, it's good to see the weekend on the horizon. Now I can have some time to sit back a little.

I will be going to see "Madea Goes to Jail" this weekend. I can't wait. I will have to chance to catch up w/ some of my friends in doing so. I know that we will have a good time & we all know that Tyler Perry is too crazy for words!! I cannot wait to laugh @ Madea & the crew.

Here's the movie trailer in case you didn't get a chance to see it:

I'll have to let you know what I think of it once I see it!!!

Until next time.

Blessings,

Daily Scriptures 2/17/09

Scripture: Psalm 65:11 You give the year a good harvest, and you load the wagons with many crops. (New Century Version)

Nugget: This scripture reminds me of my 2008 year. I spent the year in search of a better job & looking & waiting for a lot of things from God. These things were really promises that I was waiting to come to pass in His time. Needless to say, God waited until the final 3 months of the year to bring a lot of these promises to pass.

I think it’s this way with many of us. Sometimes God allows us to go through a “dry spell” in order to see if we really want what we’re seeking. Next thing you know, we have an overflow!

Your year may not have started off the way you want, but keep plowing the fields. Your harvest could be on the way!! And when God unloads it, get ready to fill that wagon.

Quote: “Inhale, and God approaches you. Hold the inhalation, and God remains with you. Exhale, and you approach God. Hold the exhalation, and surrender to God.” -Krishnamacharya

Daily Scriptures 2/16/09

Scripture: Job 5:22 You shall laugh at destruction and famine, And you shall not be afraid of the beasts of the earth. (New King James Version)

Nugget: Sometimes laughter is the best medicine! Now-a-days, we find little reason to laugh or to smile when looking at the news and all that’s going on. This scripture reminds us that laughter could be the cure we’re seeking in the midst of the craziness we live & see.

Find something to laugh about today!!

Quote: “Smile, God loves you.” -Unknown

Happy Valentines Day!!!

Happy Valentines Day to everyone. May you enjoy your day & spend time with those you love. No matter what, don't let this one day determine when you show love for those who are important to you. This should be done 365 days of the year (or 366 for Leap Year!).

For those who are single, enjoy the day with other single friends or spend the time focusing on you. Don't look at it as a day to get down in the dumps! It's not the only day that you've been single! For those who are married, do that something extra that you've been putting off "for another day" for your significant other.

Put a smile on your face! Live, love, laugh!!

Until next time.

Blessings,

"Paint Your Painting..."

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to hear Dr. Farrah Gray speak. What an awesome word he gave. For those of you who don't know him, he's the 24-year old who became a millionaire @ 14-years old. He is also the youngest person to have an office on Wall Street. You can read his bio @ http://www.drfarrahgray.com/biography.html

What a great word he gave to us! He reminded us of the importance of love & humanity towards one another & how to change from the inside out. It doesn't matter what you have on the outside ,as far as the materialistic stuff, if the inside isn't right!! It's amazing how we can put so much emphasis on the things that fade & not on the things that will help us grow.

So with this being said, he provided some great advice: "Live your God-given talent. Be the next you, everyone else is already taken!" What a true statement! We have to focus on continual growth in ourselves & use this to be the person God put us on Earth to be--no matter what anyone else says. Gray reminded us, "Never allow anyone's perception of you to become your reality."

He said so many things, that I know I won't be able to touch upon them all (that's why I bought his book, Reallionaire). However, whatever it is that you are called to do, do it. Paint that painting, write that book, sing that song---don't let your dreams lie in the graveyard, because when we leave here, that's where they will lie.

Lastly, the 3 questions Gray posed to us were:
1) What comes easy to you?
2) What would you do for years & years & do it for free?
3) How can you give back?

Discover you! Don't settle for anything. If you think it can't happen & won't happen for you, as Gray stated, "Why not you?"

Until next time.

Blessings.

Jennifer Hudson: "If This Isn't Love"

Okay all, I'm a big Jennifer Hudson fan. I'm so happy that she's back out there. We truly continue to pray for her strength due to her great loss.

I got the chance to see her live in concert & believe me, I will pay to see her SANG!!! She's a rare talent out there & it's good to see her displaying her God-given talent. So with this said, here's the video to one of my favorite songs on her CD, "If This Isn't Love"........

Until next time.

Excited....

I'm so excited. My sista friends & I are planning a trip to celebrate one of their birthdays! There's nothing like getting together w/ your friends & celebrating every chance we can get. AND I finally get to get a stamp in my Passport!!! Yes!!!!

This is something for everyone: enjoy life. From the smallest things to the bigger things. We never know when our last day will be & once we're older, we don't want to look back always wishing that we've could've done more. I'm learning this daily. I will continue to work on my "Bucket List" of things I would love to do in my lifetime. But working on it is not just enough, doing it is.

On to other exciting news, I miss some of my old co-workers. Not the craziness of the job, but the people. So, we're also planning a get-together within the coming weeks. Also, a friend I haven't seen in a while is coming to town, so it's going to be nice catching up!

I guess the whole point of this posting is to take time out for self, for those you love & care about, & to take a breather. Don't let the joys of life pass you by :)

Until next time.

Blessings,

~Lisi P.

Daily Scriptures 2/10/09

Scripture: Deuteronomy 8:18 “And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. (New King James Version)

Nugget: We must remember God in all our blessings; He’s the one who’s given all things to us that we may enjoy. Some get wealthy, gain status, etc., & the last thing you’ll hear about is God.

He’s established all things for us before we were born, back to the days when He decided that our parents would be our parents, & their parents theirs!! God’s covenant & desires surpass more than we’ll ever know.

Quote: “Truly, my dear young friends, you are a chosen generation. I hope you will never forget it. I hope you will never take it for granted. I hope there will grow in your hearts an overpowering sense of gratitude to God, who has made it possible for you to come upon the earth in this marvelous season.” –Gordon B. Hinckley

Still Easing on Down the Road....

Today marks one month since I've started my new job. I can't believe how quickly it's flown by. I've learned a lot & am still learning. It's all good stuff. There's opportunity for growth. I know that God makes everything happen for a reason & this is where He wants me to be. I just have to do my part now that He's placed me here!

With this being said, I encourage those jobseekers to remain strong, keep applying, & know that when God wants to open that door for you, He will. It may not be when you want it to open, but God is always right on time. He never gets anything wrong. We must always remember this.

Of course, it's difficult to remain encouraged when all we hear about are the bad things, but there has to be something good going on as well. There's a flip side to everything, just remain focused on Him--not your situation or circumstance.

There's someone praying for you that you don't even know about; when you're wondering where that extra strength is coming from, it's from those who are silently (& not so silently) having your back.

God always answers on time! Count your blessings & continue to see them add up.

Until next time.

Blessings,

Daily Scriptures 2/4/09

Scripture: Proverbs 13:22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, But the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous. (New King James Version)

Nugget: The things we do & work on now will be for our future generations. Just think of the things your parents & grandparents laid out for you, or better yet, instilled in you to be who you are today.

We are a product of our pasts (which is sometimes good & sometimes bad), but God knows that no matter what, we are His. There’s nothing like the things we store up for God. Although we are working on the things to leave future generations, our main goal is to have the wealth of righteousness!

Quote: “I think that God means that we shall do more than we have yet done in furtherance of His plans and he will open the way for our doing it.” –Abraham Lincoln

For My Singletons, Pt. 5

These past few months seem to have consisted of random guys approaching me. I'm not sure what's going on, but I know that this must mean that God is truly working on my Boaz.

I'm trying to figure out if chilvary has died. I am saying this because the guys who are approaching me have nothing to offer: no one has extended a dinner invitation, but wanted to come over to my place to "hang out" (which was not happening), no one has offered to open a door for me, but wanted to take me to some discount event that equated to him not spending a dime (now, I'm not over getting into stuff for free, but what about the free Jazz concerts the local radio station puts on?!), & I could go on & on with this list.

But what happened to those men (I say men because the ones who have approached me have been boys) who want to open the door for you, who want to take you out to dinner to get to know you, & not the ones who just want to go to the movies (where you really cannot have a conversation)? I know these rare men are out there, just like us rare women are. Because believe me, when I mention that I have no children, everyone is surprised; so I know those rare men are having the same thing happen to them.

I think the thing to do is, is to change my environment. Sometimes, it's just the surroundings we're in. Start going to events where people who have the same interests as you will be; try something different & think outside of the box. Don't just settle for the "same 'ol, same 'ol".

I know that God continues to work. I pray He keeps molding me as He works on my Boaz!

Until next time.

Blessings.

Update...

Just a little update. I've been on the new job 3 weeks now. Wow, time is going by quickly. I can't believe it's been almost a month. Things are going well. Going through training & learning a lot. I'm up for the challenge & am grateful for the blessing of a new job.

As for everything else, I'm working on my book. Writer's Block is something else. I don't have Blogger's Block at all (LOL), but to churn out the book that you want to be a good one & people to understand, is a challenge. I know other writers feel this way from time-to-time, so it's natural. I just pray during this process because I know that this is a gift that God's given to me & it's meant to be shared.

I remember my Pastor saying that "if you find the one thing that you love to do, you will never work a day again in your life". I think that for many of us, this thing is the gift (or gifts) that God has given to us that we must learn to use. I know that for me it's writing. Some may have the gift of counseling, some the gift of reaching children, etc. You never know where you'll be once this gift is discovered & utilized.

So tap into that inner you that God's trying to reveal. Touch upon the things He's put in you that you could be sitting on! Don't waste the gifts of God.

With this said, I will wait for the Writer's Block to subside & get to work.

Until next time.

Blessings,

~Lisi P.
