Daily Scriptures 4/30/09

Scripture: Psalm 71:14 But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.

Nugget: No matter what you’re going through, you must give God continual praise. That’s when you praise Him more! It’s always easier to praise Him when things are going well, but praise Him in the midst of your trials, tribulations, and challenges. That’s when you really see God at work; you’ll see Him turn many situations around.

Quote: “A search of one's life and soul will reveal the hand of God. The outpouring of His blessings come with our afflictions, not in spite of them. Afflictions be praised!” –Elaine Cannon

Daily Scriptures 4/29/09

Scripture: Haggai 1:6 (New King James Version)
“ You have sown much, and bring in little;
You eat, but do not have enough;
You drink, but you are not filled with drink;
You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm;
And he who earns wages,
Earns wages to put into a bag with holes.”

Nugget: Sometimes we have to check ourselves. This scripture makes me think of all we have & what we do with it. It makes me think that we are never satisfied, no matter how much we are blessed. A self-evaluation allows us to realize that there are so many things to be thankful for & so many things we let go to waste.

A little self-evaluation goes a long way!

Quote: “Someone has said it is better to appreciate the things you don't own than to own things you don't appreciate. I hope we will have with us a spirit of appreciation for all of the good things we enjoy, all the blessings that we have, many of which have come so easy to us, with very little effort on our part, and yet they are very real and very choice and are truly rich blessings.” –Ezra Taft Benson

For My Singletons: Pt. 7

Lately, my single friends & I have talked about everything from the joys of being single to being alone while being single. Most want & are expecting that "someone special" one day. I like the expectation that God is working on that someone special for me, just as He is working on me for that someone!

The thing is, most singles are focusing a lot on the "aloneness" rather than the process of what God is trying to form in them. We have to go through the process of preparation because I truly believe that if God gave us everything we want all @ one time, we wouldn't be able to take it all in.

We all go through seasons in life & the feelings that come with those seasons are normal. However, we must also keep pressing on, knowing that we are to learn something in each season, in each lesson, and in everyday. Once one season ends, the next one starts & the opportunity to go back usually doesn't exist.

So for my singletons, enjoy the moments of solitude, pray that God is working on what He needs to in you & is preparing the other person as well. Because the worse thing to do is to get something out-of-season, & the wrong something at that!!!!

Until next time.

Blessings,

Daily Scriptures 4/28/09

Scripture: Nahum 1:3 The Lord is slow to get angry, but his power is great, and he never lets the guilty go unpunished. He displays his power in the whirlwind and the storm. The billowing clouds are the dust beneath his feet. (New Living Translation)

Nugget: God has to be very patient with us; just think on the many things that we do where we seek His forgiveness (& the times we don’t seek it). However, once God gets angry, I’m sure there’s nothing like it! From this scripture, it looks like He will let this be known.

We don’t have to worry about getting back at those who have done us wrong or those who are guilty for something: God can handle this in His time & His way.

Quote: “Why were you angry? You will probably find that it was because you were not willing to accept the world as God has made it, or because you were not willing to leave it to God to deal with the people that He has made.” –Stephen Neill

Daily Scriptures 4/27/09

Scriptures: Psalm 24:1-2 1 The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; 2 for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters. (NIV)

Nugget: All is God’s! When we look around & take in everything around us, it all started & continues with Him. How soon we forget this in the midst of what’s going on. He created a beautiful world & beautiful people; we must be careful as to how we are treating His world & His people.

Don’t take anything for granted that God has given you. He gave us life & surroundings for us to enjoy.

Quote: “Of all created comforts, God is the lender; you are the borrower, not the owner.” –Ernest Rutherford

Dry Spell...

Lately, I've been feeling like I've been going through a dry spell with God. What I mean is, it's like I've been doing everything but reading my Bible daily. It's like I've found everything else to do first & last. I know that I've been busy w/ the move & adjusting to other life changes, but nothing should get in the way of my Christian walk.

I know that many of us go through this from time-to-time. What I'm learning to do is to keep pressing though it. To keep talking to God, no matter what may be going on. Also, keep going to Bible Study & to focus on Him. It's helped a lot.

I think today was confirmation of my having to get back on track. My friend gave an awesome sermon @ church today. She mentioned having our sword ready for war: guarding ourselves w/ God's word & getting into it DAILY. Wow, I was both happy about the sermon & condemned at the same time! I was like, "Now, I'm accountable". *smile* But not in a bad way, but I know that making time to read, study, to understand, & to learn from God's word is imperative. I will definitely purchase the CD to listen to when I feel like I'm in the "Dry Spell" season.

By the way, I gotta get back into the Daily Scriptures posting :) Time to get back on track & to stay on it.

Until next time.

Blessings,

Back in Business!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay, the Internet is working again @ my house. I'm so glad. Goodness, if I could tell you how crazy it was to be on the phone w/ "technical support" the other day for a whole hour & getting no where: a complete test of patience. Needless to say, the tech guy had to come out today & do something w/ the modem. It took all of 5 minutes & I'm back up & running. I cannot begin to say the crazy month I've had getting all the technology back in my home!! LOL However, I can't complain too much, everything worked out in the end.

And what a crazy month it's been, period. Moving, learning a lot about so called "friends", going to weddings, baby showers, etc. Yes, it has flown by. No wonder I don't know where this year is going :) Time flies.

On to other things, I'm going to see my friend's little brother today; he's like my little brother. However, this little brother is now 18 & going to college in the Fall! I remember him being like 6. What happened? I swear when he said, "I got into my first choice school", I wanted to ask, "What are you talking about?" Okay, so I see them getting older, but I never see myself getting older. Yes, it is happening simultaneously. *smile* I guess I want to think of time standing still, but time waits for no man (or woman)!!

I'm happy the weekend is here! I plan to enjoy & relax. With this said, take some time to yourself. Pray, read God's word, & meditate. All of this helps in re-evaluating where you're going & what you're trying to achieve in life :) There's nothing like reflection.

Until next time.

Blessings,

Objects in the Mirror.....

We've all heard the saying or seen it on car mirrors, "Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear." Wow, this can truly be applied to life. From my blog, you can see that I've experienced some great life changes: new job, new car, a home, etc. Well, let me write to you about the "objects" in my life. These objects are actually people; as I would've previously called them "friends".

Yes, they are closer than they appear. For when things were going array in my life, they were right there to take it all in. At times, even being encouraging during my struggle. But for some reason, in recent chain of events, they have completely done a 180. For instance, not showing any excitement or happiness for the blessings that are coming my way. Little do they know, that God blesses us all when He blesses one of us!!! We all get a piece of the pie in some way.

For instance, if I've "been there & done that" and am now past that, guess what? I can give you advice on it. For I know that everything I've been through & experienced is for someone else as well!! Probably more so in reality!

I guess that we can view these objects as "haters" and people who are very jealous-hearted & envious. It's sad though; because I definitely thought they would've had my back. I guess some have our backs up to a certain point. Funny, how that point can be the point of blessings!

Needless to say, I'm going to keep truckin' on. The "objects in the mirror" that I tend to keep around are truly closer than they appear: they've helped me move, helped me stay strong, encouraged me, & then some. I wouldn't have made it w/out them. As for the others, the mirrors are now broken :) Reality has arrived & the mirror has never looked the same.

Everyone, keep your true friends close & be the friend to them that they are to you! Good friends are hard to find & foggy mirrors aren't worth cleaning :)

Until next time.

Blessings,

Still Surviving.....

My Survivor Island is going well. Got a few boxes out of the way & more things in order. Finally back in the world of the Weather Channel, although they have to come out & fix something with the cable signal. Got my phone back working, then it went out. LOL. Still no Internet at home. LOL. But hey, if I am going to do Survivor, it might as well be at my own place---so I'm not complaining one bit!! It's all part of the process :)

Other than that, made the 90 day mark on my new job. It feels good; things are coming along. Learning & working, working & learning, so all is well.

I hope that everyone had a Happy Easter!! I enjoyed mine. Went to church & then went to a friend's wedding. I loved the wedding & getting caught up w/ long-time friends. Where have the years gone?!?!? But as I always tell "my boys" (as I like to call this close group of guy friends), they will always remain older than me :) But seriously, when we grow up??? It's like yesterday we were hanging out in college. Wow, time flies.

One day at a time all; Enjoy!!

Until next time.

Blessings,

My week as a "Survivor"

It's been an amazing week! I crossed over into the land of homeownership! God is good. The process has been smooth, stressful, happy, & more. Yes, you feel every emotion while going through it. In the end, it's a true blessing, especially when you look at the craziness on the news!

As far as "Survivor", my home phone, Internet, & cable are not working. And last night, the crazy electric company turned off my electricity due to messing up my address!!! It's been some ride!!! One day, I'll be back in full force with today's technology!! LOL At least I have my lifeline: my cellphone!!! Goodness, I think that it would be what I'd take to the Island for sure; that & my Bible, of course :)

With all of this said, I cannot complain & can truly count my blessings!! One day at a time, until then, I'll be unpacking & still trying to figure out where all this stuff has come from!!

Until next time.

Blessings,

~Lisi P.
