Praise Song: "Suddenly"

This week's Praise Song is "Suddenly" by Bishop Eddie Long featuring the New Birth Total Praise Choir.  There are some changes God makes suddenly!  Yes, there are some things that take more time, but thank God for the sudden changes He makes in us!!!

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 5/26/10

Scriptures: Matthew 11:28-30 28Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (NKJV)

Nugget: These scriptures came to my mind yesterday after a busy and hectic few days. I continue to learn that time waits for no one; in this same process, I’m realizing how important it is to rest.

It’s so easy to get caught up in our daily routines & tire ourselves out! Before you know it, Friday has already arrived & we’re left wondering where the week has gone. I’m definitely trying to learn to give things over to God. Jesus reminds us in these scriptures to go to Him, give Him our burdens, & to find rest. This has to be some of the best advice ever!!

Daily Scriptures 5/25/10

Scripture: Psalm 68:19 Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. Selah (NIV)

Nugget: God is always on the job! Daily, He bears our burdens. Not every-now-and-then, but daily. There’s so much that we need to turn over to Him and allow Him to handle, but we don’t. Who better to give your burdens to than the one who created you?

Don’t let the burdens of life weigh you down; give the burdens to God. Allow Him to step in, while you step out to enjoy the life He has given you! Thank God for being our burden bearer.

Quote: “Every evening I turn my worries over to God. He's going to be up all night anyway.” –Mary C. Crowley

A Good Word

In watching Pastor Joel Osteen recently, his topic was about not letting anyone label you. He gave a good Word & within this Word, the abovementioned quote was stated. The quote made me think back on recent years & relationships that have come & gone. Wow, the quote has such truth to it!

It’s amazing that the people you’ve known the longest will have these feelings about you, but on the other hand, they are the ones who’ve known you the longest & will remind you of what & who you used to be. They are either the ones who will encourage you to go further in life or the ones who will continuously remind you of your “old self”. The funny things is, they will not, at times, be the ones who recognize the change God has enabled to come over you.

I’ve had a few of these encounters in the past few years with people who I’ve known for a while; they just couldn’t understand where I was going & the direction God was leading me in. They didn’t understand that I’ve learned to reflect on past lessons to see where God has brought me from, not that I wanted to remain there. They just didn’t “get it”. They weren’t celebrating with me, they weren’t accepting change.

I think we all have these people in our lives; however, we must keep accepting the changes God has made in us & the direction he’s leading us in. If these people don’t get it & aren’t accepting of the progress God has made in your life, then it’s time to do some relationship evaluations.

As Pastor Osteen reminded in this same sermon: "People don't determine your destiny, God does. Don't allow people to label you into anything God hasn't called you to be. When God says something about you, the wrong labels of people won't stick!"

Don’t allow people to speak things into your life that don’t reflect the direction God is leading you in. The change He makes in you is for the better, regardless of where you’ve come from & where you’ve been! It’s okay to look back from time-to-time, but not for the reasons of remaining there, but for reflection!

Keep moving forward! God’s got it.

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 5/20/10

Scripture: I Corinthians 16:13 Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. (NLT)

Nugget: Faith brings on many characteristics such as strength, courage, & standing firm. When we have faith, there should be nothing that shakes it. Standing firm in God & His word is what gets us through the daily routines of life & the things that come up unexpectedly.

Be on guard, in continuous, unshakeable faith!

Quotes: “Faith isn't faith until it's all you're holding on to” and “Faith is not belief without proof, but trust without reservation.” –Unknown

Praise Song: "I Want It All Back"

This week's Praise Song is Tye Tribbett's "I Want It All Back".  Tye Tribbett is complete energy & the song reminds you of an energy-filled rock concert.  It's a different twist on praising, but all-and-all, Tye is getting his praise on for the Lord.  The message is a good one; don't let the devil take from you what he didn't give to you to begin with.  All gifts are from the Lord.  Hope you enjoy it :)

I want it all back

(Verse 1)

You may have thought, you won that last round
You may have laughed (cuz) I almost fell down
Maybe you think I give up easy
But its not ovah, I got more in me

You thought I stopped, you thought I sat down
But I am standin', you made me mad now!
You got some things, I think you owe me
I've come to get back everything that you stole

(Chorus)

I want it all back

(Verse 2)

You hit me hard, I should be knocked out
Things I've been through, don't even wanna talk about
You crossed the line (this time) you violated me
I want revenge (I want everything back from) A to Z
The battle's not mine, the battle is the Lord's
In the name of JESUS, I'm takin' it by force

(Chorus)

I want it all back

(Bridge)

If you only knew what I was gonna be
After the storm you wouldn't have even bothered me

(Channel)

(And now I'm) stronger
(And I got more) power
(I'm a little bit) wiser
(And I got more) strength
(I got thee) anointing
(Got God's) favor
(And we're still) standing
I want it all back

Give me my stuff back, give me my stuff, give me my stuff back
I want it all
I want that,
What about your family and all your self-esteem, even your destiny?
What about the joy you tasted and the time you wasted, do you want it back?
What about your place in God and all your faith in God, even the ways of God?
What about your hopes and dreams and your communities, even your kids and teens?
I want that, I want that, I want that, I want that
I want it all back

Until next time.

Next Movie: "Just Wright"

The movie "Just Wright", starring Queen Latifah, Common, & Paula Patton, looks like a really cute movie.  I really like the movies where you'll walk away smiling.  Plus, we know most Queen Latifah movies will make us laugh :)

Per the movie synopsis:
Leslie Wright (Queen Latifah) is a straight-shooting physical therapist who gets the gig of a lifetime working with NBA All-Star Scott McKnight (Common). All is going well until Leslie finds herself falling for Scott, forcing her to choose between the gig and the tug-of-war inside her heart. Oblivious to her romantic overtures, McKnight is instead drawn to the affections of Leslie's childhood friend Morgan (Paula Patton), who has her sights set on being an NBA trophy wife. Is Leslie destined to play the role of "best friend" forever or will Scott finally see that what he always wanted is right in front of him? -From Fox SearcLight Pictures

The movie comes out on May 14, 2010.  Yep, on my list of movies to see.

Until next time.

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers! I always tell my cousin that the “job” and role of a mother has to be the most difficult job out there; there’s no award that can equal to what a mother equates in one’s life. True and real mothers are irreplaceable. These are the Proverbs 31 Women (Proverbs 31:10-31 NKJV):

10 Who can find a virtuous wife?
For her worth is far above rubies.

11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her;
So he will have no lack of gain.

12 She does him good and not evil
All the days of her life.

13 She seeks wool and flax,
And willingly works with her hands.

14 She is like the merchant ships,
She brings her food from afar.

15 She also rises while it is yet night,
And provides food for her household,
And a portion for her maidservants.

16 She considers a field and buys it;
From her profits she plants a vineyard.

17 She girds herself with strength,
And strengthens her arms.

18 She perceives that her merchandise is good,
And her lamp does not go out by night.

19 She stretches out her hands to the distaff,
And her hand holds the spindle.

20 She extends her hand to the poor,
Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.

21 She is not afraid of snow for her household,
For all her household is clothed with scarlet.

22 She makes tapestry for herself;
Her clothing is fine linen and purple.

23 Her husband is known in the gates,
When he sits among the elders of the land.

24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
And supplies sashes for the merchants.

25 Strength and honor are her clothing;
She shall rejoice in time to come.

26 She opens her mouth with wisdom,
And on her tongue is the law of kindness.

27 She watches over the ways of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.

28 Her children rise up and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her:

29 “ Many daughters have done well,
But you excel them all.”

30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.

31 Give her of the fruit of her hands,
And let her own works praise her in the gates.

I thank God for the great women He has placed in my life. The women who are good examples of what a wife, mother, and overall woman is supposed to be.

For those mothers, grandmothers who take on the mother’s role, aunts who are filling in, sisters who are stepping up, and the fathers who are mothers too: Happy Mother’s Day. Enjoy your day & all that it brings.

Until next time.

Blessings,

Praise Song: "Faithful to Believe"

This week's Praise Song is Bryon Cage's "Faithful to Believe".  Definitely an uplifting song!!!  All things are possible with God!

Is there anything to hard for the Lord?
(no no no no)
Is there anything that He can't do?
(no no no no no)
Is there anything impossible?
(no no no no)
Will He withhold any good thing from you say
(no no no no no)

Is there anything to hard for the Lord?
(no no no no)
Is there anything that He can't do?
(no no no no no)
Is there anything impossible?
(no no no no)
Will He withhold any good thing from you say
(no no no no no)

That which He's spoken
He's faithful to perform
It will come to pass

If we believe and we speak He can do anything
Exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think
He is able to turn the tables in my favor
If we're faith faithful to believe

Is there anything to hard for the Lord?
(no no no no)
Is there anything that He can't do?
(no no no no no)
Is there anything impossible?
(no no no no)
Will He withhold any good thing from you say
(no no no no no)

That which He's spoken
He's faithful to perform
It will come to pass

If we believe and we speak He can do anything
Exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think
He is able to turn the tables in my favor
If we're faith faithful to believe

I believe yes yes I do believe
(I believe yes yes I do believe yeah)
I believe yes yes I do believe
(I believe yes yes I do believe)

Do you know you are victorious?
(yeah yeah yeah yeah)
And His favors reigning over us
(yeah yeah yeah yeah)
Are His promises more than enough say
(yeah yeah yeah yeah)
Are your affections set on things above
(yeah yeah yeah yeah)

That which He's spoken
He's faithful to perform
It will come to pass

If we believe and we speak He can do anything
Exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think
He is able to turn the tables in my favor
If we're faith faithful to believe

I believe yes yes I do believe
(I believe yes yes I do believe yeah)
I believe yes yes I do believe
(I believe yes yes I do believe)

I believe there's a god who knows
The path in life and where things should go
That means that even if a door should close
Somewhere out there there's a window for sure

If we don't get presents that can't be changed
And we've done so much we gotta give it away
(now thats the kind of blessings that i'm talkin' about)
Trust believe expect no doubt

If you have itty bitty mustard seed faith
Then even mountains gotta get out the way
All I wanna get you really really to believe
Is that He is faithful iIm faithful to believe

I believe I believe I believe faithful to believe
I believe I believe I believe faithful to believe

If we believe and we speak he can do anything
Exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think
He is able to turn the tables in my favor
If we're faith faithful to believe

I believe yes yes I do believe
(I believe yes yes I do believe yeah)
I believe yes yes I do believe
(I believe yes yes I do believe)

If we believe and we speak he can do anything
Exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think
He is able to turn the tables in my favor
If we're faith faithful to believe

Until next time.

Another Birthday!!

Happy Spiritual Birthday to me!  6 years ago today, I was Baptized.  It's amazing how time flies!  Thinking back on that day, I still remember the excitement of giving my life over to the Lord.  As my Pastor always says, "it's an outward action for what's already on the inside."  This is so very true.

I'm thanking God for all of His mercy & grace.  I'm thanking Him for the people He has brought along my journey (& for those He still brings); they have helped in my Christain walk & growth.  I thank God for allowing me to be a continous work-in-progress.  As I may want to be further than I am on my journey, but I'm definitely NOT where I used to be!!

I look forward to my journey ahead; I know that there will be challenges along the way, but with these challenges come understanding, this in turn brings the knowledge of what it takes to continue on the journey.  With Jesus by my side, all things are possible.

God can turn anyone's life around.  Try Him for yourself :)  He made us as we are & accepts us for who we are.  All we have to do, is accept Him.

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 5/4/10

Scripture: Psalm 29:11 The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.

Nugget: This scripture reminds me of the strength in having peace in our lives. The Lord provides us with strength and peace. Sometimes the two go hand-and-hand. Just think on the times when you’ve sought peace in your life & removed any negativity; there had to be a sense of strength that came with these feelings.

Continue to seek peace in your life, the strength that comes with it, & all that it brings.

Quote: “To be at one with God is to be at peace ... peace is to be found only within, and unless one finds it there he will never find it at all. Peace lies not in the external world. It lies within one's own soul.” -Ralph Waldo Trine

Daily Scriptures 5/3/10

Scripture: Proverbs 12:25 Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up. (NLT)

Nugget: A little positivity can go a long way, especially when it comes in the form of an encouraging word! We must keep positive things & people around us; the things that can be uplifting when we are down. If you feel like you can’t find something to lift you up, be sure to always, & never wait to, turn to God’s word.

I remember times when I was going though “a lot” & had one scripture to get me through it all. Sometimes, it has to be this way! Keep your encouraging word in your mind & heart no matter what! This word can truly make a big difference.

Praise Song: "Take Care of Me"

I love going to the library & checking out good gospel CDs.  Some time ago, I came across the gospel group, Rizen's, CD (self-titled Rizen).  The entire CD is good!!  What powerful & anointed singers.  (Check out the entire CD if you get a chance)  This week's praise song is "Take Care of Me" performed by the group along with Ali Woodson.  What a great reminder that God's in the business of taking care of us!!!  Be blessed & encouraged.

1) Cried all night long, And I feel all hope is gone.
My world upside down. I'm going round and round. Trying to find peace of mind. Couldn't find love, joy happiness.
In a world of sadness.

Chorus 1: Where is the light that shine? Especially for you and me. There must be some help for me.

2) I'm living in world of sin. Searching for peace within. Out here on my own. Things are still going wrong.
Tell me what's going on. There's trouble all around me. I need someone to lead and guide me. Looking for that Savior, Who can take care of me. Chorus 1

3) There is someone who sacrificed. For your sin, he gave his life. He brings joy from despair. Just read the word and stay in prayer. I want that man who was stretched so wide. Hung his head, bled & died. He didn't come down.
He stayed right there, for everybody, everywhere.

Chorus 2: He is the light that shines, that's going to take good care of me. He is the light that shines, Especially for you and me.

Vamp: Jesus, He's gonna take good care of me (repeat). Jesus, Take care of me. Jesus, Jehovah, Provider, Healer, Take care of me (repeat).

Until next time.

Lessons Learned

Have you ever had to learn a lesson the hard way?  I think it's the only way for us to learn sometimes.  Well, for me, this recently happened.  I've been trying to juggle a lot at work & have been spreading myself thin.  I could've saved a lot of time & stress by asking for help.  Sometimes, all we have to do is ask.  Boy, this could've gotten me a lot further & a lot sooner.

I don't know where this innate part of my personality came from: the desire to want to do everything & to try to everything.  I guess I think I'm Superwoman at times!  Maybe somewhat of a perfectionist.  I'm driven & determined to get things done & to accomplish what I set out to do.  But in reality, we all need help sometimes; we all need the time it takes to regroup & to find the common ground that helps us to get through the things that life throws our way.

Another good thing about life and lessons learned, are the positive people we have in our corners.  I like to think that I'm a very encouraging person; I love to make others feel better & give them the boost it takes to get to the next level God has in store for them.  I do try not to have too many "down" days!  But where does my encouragement come from?  Well, I'm thanking God for His word & for good people, family, & friends, because without these in my life I don't know where I would be.

I recently met a person who has to be one of the most encouraging people I know (besides myself *smile*).  I absolutely love his spirit & the words he shares with others.  His words have helped to keep me encouraged through these rough weeks & I don't think he even knows how much they helped.  He's a reminder that God works in so many ways & in ways we would least expect & in people we never knew would cross our paths.

I'm thanking God for lessons learned, unexpected people in unexpected places who cross our paths, & for all that He continues to do in me & through me.

May we all learn to ask for help when needed, to seek God always, & to keep positive people around us!

Proverbs 12:25 Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up. (NLT)

Until next time.

Blessings,
