Daily Scriptures 1/14/13

Scripture: Zephaniah 2:15 This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.

Nugget: This scripture is referring to the city of Ethiopia and Assyria; those there were boastful about the city & what it contained. Overall, they felt they couldn’t be touched! However, God continued to remind them who was in control & the city became a desolate place, even a place where animals took shelter.

We must be mindful & careful about a prideful, boasting attitude. This could be very damaging to what God has in store for us; so much so, that the very thing(s) we’re seeking, God can give to us & take away in an instance.

No matter where you’re going & what you’re accomplishing, do not lose sight of the one who continues to be a blessing to you---God should always be our #1 priority.

Quote: “The proud wish God would agree with them. They are not interested in changing their opinions to agree with God's.” -Ezra Taft Benson
