Daily Scriptures 12/30/10

Scripture: John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (NIV)

Nugget: Jesus revealed so many things to the disciples; the things that He revealed were for learning & guidance. Also, they were to bring peace. He was reminding them that no matter what, He was still in control & there was nothing that they would face that couldn’t be overcome through Him.

Peace is such a great thing to have, but peace in Jesus—what a blessing. Yes, we’ll face troubles, obstacles, challenges, & more, but peace in Jesus is the way we overcome these things!

Don’t give away your peace to the things & people you face in life---rest in Jesus & know that His peace is everlasting.

Quote: “Of all the things Christ wants for us, loving Him and focusing our attention on Him are the most important.” –Charles Stanley

Daily Scriptures 12/29/10

Scripture: John 14:1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.” (NIV)

Nugget: We allow so many things in life to trouble us; we worry, then pray & pray, then worry. What’s the point of this cycle, especially when God is in control? We must believe in Him & His word. We must believe in all that Jesus has done & shown us!

Instead of worrying, then praying, truly BELIEVE & have FAITH! God’s will is to be done, regardless.

What is troubling you today? What has been troubling you for longer than today? Why is your heart troubled? Check your faith & your focus. Just BELIEVE.

Quote: “To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible.” –St. Thomas Aquinas

Praise Song: "Changed Man"

This week's Praise Song is Deitrick Haddon's "Changed Man".  There are changes that we've experienced & have gone through that we can attribute to God & to God only!

I thank God for having His hands in my life & changing me!  There are still things that I continue to work on, but thank God for what He's already done & continues to do!!  His changes are so amazing.

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 12/22/10

Scripture: Proverbs 15:23 Everyone enjoys a fitting reply; it is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time! (NLT)

Nugget: Good advice at the right time is definitely great to receive. Thank God for those who provide this advice right on time. The thing is, we have to be ready to receive it. Don’t miss the good advice someone is trying to give you.

Always seek wise counsel & be ready to receive it as well!

Quote: “To accept good advice is but to increase one's own ability.” –Johann Wolfgang van Goethe

My vacation break began a few days ago and I’m grateful for the time off. God continues to show me the importance of rest; both physical rest & resting in Him & His promises. God continues to show me so much that I don’t want to miss anything :)

One of the most important things I’m reflecting on is appreciation; appreciation for the simple things, the good people, & what God has entrusted me with. We tend to focus on so many other things, that we really lose focus on what’s right in front of us. I don’t want to take any of it for granted.

God has truly blessed me in spite of myself! I think of the friends I have who are like family; basically, they are my extended family. I think of the unexpected phone calls & texts that make my day by reaching me at the “right moment”, lifting my spirits. I think of the time spent with loved ones & the upcoming time to spend with family. God is truly good.

Appreciation…so glad to show it & so grateful to God for His mercy & grace. As Christmas approaches, this word means so much more; appreciation just for being able to exist to appreciate the reason for the season: Jesus!

Thanking God for all He does & all He continues to do. Thanking God for the reminder of appreciating where I am & where I’m going. Appreciation—how are you showing your thanks for it??

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 12/13/10

Scripture: Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Nugget: “Immanuel” means “God with us.” Jesus is truly with us! As we approach Christmas & reflect on this year, we can truly say that what we lived, experienced, & made it through is because of our Lord. He kept us, protected us, loved us, & so much more.

We cannot forget the true reason for the season: Jesus Christ. We must celebrate Him at Christmas & always. Don’t lose sight of Him during this joyous time of the year. We couldn’t ask for a better gift.

Quote: “You can never truly enjoy Christmas until you can look up into the Father's face and tell Him you have received His Christmas gift.” -John R. Rice

Praise Song: "Be Blessed"

This week's Praise Song is Yolanda Adams' "Be Blessed".  I remember hearing this song a few years ago & the impact it had on me.  I hadn't heard it in a while & a guest Praise Dance Team performed to it at church today.  What a reminder this song & performance were.  I thank God for bringing these words today through dance.

Be blessed!  God's got everything under control :)

Daily Scriptures 12/6/10

Scriptures: John 10:14-15 14“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— 15just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. (NIV)

Nugget: I thank God for Jesus. No one knows me & loves me so unconditionally.

He knows us, loves us, & accepts us. Not only this, but He laid down His life for us. Who else has this type of love for us?! Others may love us; however, the Lord’s love is a different type of love. At times, it’s indescribable!

No matter what you’re going through & no matter what you’re facing. Know that the Lord’s love prevails all.

Quote: "God is love. He didn’t need us. But he wanted us. And that is the most amazing thing." -Rick Warren

Praise Song: "Anything"

This week's Praise Song is Patti LaBelle's "Anything", featuring Mary Mary. What an uplifting song.  There's nothing you cannot accomplish, you are a child of the King!  We must stay encouraged & know that with God on our side, all possibilities are endless!

Don't put limits on God or yourself!!

Some may say there ain't no way your dreams gone reach the light of day
Don't believe that you can't achieve whatever you’re after
Can't be swade by the simple minds that wanna hold you down and in His time the pain you carry will be left far behind

Have you listened to this earth and have you ask the Lord for guidance have you seen His many blessings?

Don't let no one stand in your life
Change the way you feel inside
Nobody on this earth can tell you what you’re worth, standup
You’re a child of a King and you can do anything

You try to please everyone try to live your life release those old delusions
Stop wasting time and start embracing His light and let it shine
Count your blessings when they say it ain't no way
Never stop believing in yourself but in the Lord God you'll see all the answers that free you from change that would seem to keep you stumbling

Don't let no one stand in your life
Change the way you feel inside
Nobody on this earth can tell you what your worth standup
You’re a child of a King and you can do anything

Until next time.

Giving Thanks!!

I hope that everyone had a Happy & Blessed Thanksgiving!  Mine was quite enjoyable :)  I met my newest nephew for the first time; too adorable.  A priceless event!

I do love this time of the year: Thanksgiving to Christmas.  I think it truly gives us time to reflect on what's important.  Too many times we take things & people for granted.  This Thanksgiving, I began to give thanks for the lessons learned, the people I've met, the ones that have passed on, the ones that are still here, my home, job, & friends.....the list goes on....most importantly, God, & His son, Jesus.

We also must take time to remember those who are less fortunate or those in need.  While Thanksgiving to Christmas is supposed to be a happy & joyful time, many are facing difficulties that we could only imagine.  Daily, people are losing their jobs and/or homes.  We must take time out to pray for them & help if we can.  A reminder that we're all in this together & should consistently uplift each other in prayer.

May we continue to give thanks for what we have, what's ahead, & what we've experienced.  It's all part of God's master plan :)  Don't take any of it for granted.

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 11/24/10

Scriptures: Colossians 2:6-7 6And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. 7Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. (NLT)

Nugget: Once we accept Jesus as our Lord, it’s only the beginning. We must continue to follow Him & continue to grow in Him. Our roots must be planted & planted deep; in this planting, our faith grows & becomes stronger.

Always remember what you’ve been taught, what you’re learning, & know the direction you’re going in--all in Christ—the process is continuous. Thank you, Jesus, for our continuous journey with You!!!

Quote: “All of life is a journey, which paths we take, what we look back on, and what we look forward to is up to us. We determine our destination, what kind of road we will take to get there, and how happy we are when we get there.” –Unknown

Daily Scriptures 11/22/10

Scriptures: II Corinthians 4:16-17 16That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. 17For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! (NLT)

Nugget: We experience so many things daily; challenging things, good things, things that we overcome, & so much more. These occurrences can be both rewarding & stressful; however, the troubles we experience build so much in us—faith, patience, lessons learned, experience, & the list goes on.

The products of these challenges far outweigh the experiences themselves. As we focus on the current situations, God sees the final products! (Thank God for seeing the things we can’t see!) The products help us to become the people God intended for us to be. As difficult as things may be at times, remember that everything you experience is to build something in you that has a lasting purpose—to develop something in you that can only come from the experience itself.

Quote: "The greatness comes not when things go always good for you. But the greatness comes when you're really tested, when you take some knocks, some disappointments, when sadness comes. Because only if you've been in the deepest valley can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain." -Richard M. Nixon

"Don't Quit"

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

-Author unknown

Hang in there, everyone!! Don't give up! God's in control.

Until next time.

"The Game" is Back!

Yay, my favorite show, "The Game", will return this January with new episodes!  I'm happy about this, considering it was a long battle getting it back on the air (it was cancelled a few years ago by another network); however, BET will resume the episodes this go-around.  The show returns on 1/11/11!  The entire cast is to return in their roles.

I wonder what's next for Melanie (Tia Mowry-Hardrict) & Derwin (Pooch Hall).  Looking forward to the new episodes.  I've been a fan since the first episode, so ready to see what's next!

Until next time.

Praise Song: "Like the Dew"

This week's Praise Song is Judith Christie-McAllister's "Like the Dew".  The song states, "Like the dew in the morning, gently rest upon my heart".  This is how it should be with Jesus; He should always be on our hearts, minds, & a part of our actions.

I nice, easy song!  I just love it when our Praise Team sings this one at church!

Daily Scriptures 11/12/10

Scripture: Psalm 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Nugget: Many of us “go through things”; we have our up days & down days. In spite of our thoughts about our situations, God is close to those who are brokenhearted & to those who are going through tough times. He’s strength in the midst of it all. God’s presence & strength surpasses everything; even our broken spirits & tough days!

Next Movie: "Jumping the Broom"

One of the next movies I'd like to see is "Jumping the Broom".  The trailer shows a good movie & story.  According to IMDB (, regarding the movie's storyline, "Two very different African American families converge on Martha's Vineyard one weekend for a wedding."  The cast includes: Paula Patton, Loretta Devine, Laz Alonso, & Angela Bassett, to name a few.

Here's the trailer :)

The movie's release date is around Mother's Day 2011.

Daily Scriptures 11/10/10

Scripture: Proverbs 19:11 The wise are patient; they will be honored if they ignore insults. (NCV)

Nugget: Our patience can be tested in so many ways; from driving in traffic to dealing with difficult people. Sometimes, we don’t realize we’re being tested. However, one of the best ways to deal with the varying things & people that come our way is by patience.

I’ve learned, & am continuing to learn, that patience is a sign of wisdom; patience shows control, faith, & so much more. Continue to allow your patience to grow in the things that you face in life. Patience could be the key you need to get to get to the next level.

Quote: “Patience is the companion of wisdom.” –St. Augustine

Daily Scriptures 11/8/10

Scripture: Psalm 126:3 The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy. (NIV)

Nugget: Joy comes from the Lord, not from things or people. I’ve heard that happiness is what we have through things; meaning we equate happiness with the possessions, money, & the like, that we may own. However, in looking at the joy we have from the Lord, it’s endless. The joy we have through Him is because of His love for us; just Him waking us up today is enough reason to be filled with joy!

We must remember not to let anything or anyone steal our joy; it’s given by the Lord & not by people! Don’t hand off the joy that He’s given you. Daily, thank Him for joy; it’s in your heart because God put it there. Do not attach it to things, people, etc. See joy as the gift God put in your heart!

Praise Song: "I Give Myself Away"

This week's Praise Song is William McDowell's "I Give Myself Away".  This song constantly reminds me that my life is not my own; I should be decreasing continously in order for God to use me.  I am His & am here for His purpose!  May you be blessed by these words.

Daily Scriptures 10/28/10

Scripture: I Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man, The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” (NKJV)

Nugget: God goes above & beyond what we could ever imagine; His view of what He has in store for us is endless! This is why it’s so important for us not to put God into a box; we must not limit our visions of what He can do & what He can do through us.

God is truly an amazing God! I’ve learned from the things that He’s done, & what He continues to do, to look forward to the unexpected blessings He has in store. I can only imagine what’s on the way! Thanking God for His vision that is beyond measure.

Daily Scriptures 10/26/10

Scriptures: II Timothy 3:16-17 16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (NIV)

Nugget: God’s word is powerful; everything in the Bible has a purpose. His word is for everything: teaching, correcting, training, & more. This is why it’s so important for us to get into God’s word, study it, find a church home, & fellowship with others; because when things in life come against us, we can back it up with God & His word!

There are many countries where people cannot worship & praise as they wish; here, we can. Do not take the opportunity to worship & praise God for granted; continue to learn about His word.

Quote: “No pressure is greater than God’s power.” -Charles Swindoll

Praise Song: "I Know Too Much About Him"

This week's Praise Song is Smokie Norful's "I Know Too Much About Him".  A friend recently emailed this song to me & it was right on time!  There are very powerful words in this song; what encouragement not to let your faith waver.  No matter who or what comes your way, stay strong in your faith & what God can do.  People can say what they want, but God has the final say so!  You know too much about God & His might to let anyone or anything shake your faith.

Happy Birthday!!!

I thank God for allowing me to see another day, let alone another year!!  I'm happy to see another birthday.  I think that on every birthday, I tend reflect back on my life, all that God has brought me through, & where He's leading me.

I'm reminded that life is so precious & I shouldn't take any moments for granted.  I reflect on this year: spending time with family & friends, watching my nieces learn to say "TiTi", having tough weeks, wishing for more time to do more things, learning to relax, & more.  A great year it has been, the good along with the bad.

God knows His continued plans for my life; I pray that I pay attention to where He's guiding me.  I'm here for a reason & want to continue to show His works on a daily basis!!

Birthdays are definitely God's way of letting us know the importance of the gift of life :)

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 10/21/10

Scripture: Deuteronomy 10:21 He is your praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes. (NIV)

Nugget: God is amazing! God brings so much to pass; just thinking on the things that He’s done in my life—there are not enough words to express it all. God definitely deserves all the praise & honor we can give.

What are the things you’re seeking from Him? God continues to perform great & awesome wonders; He’s continually at work. Our God can do all things.

Quote: “Therefore the Christian heart, since it has been thoroughly persuaded that all things happen by God's plan, and that nothing takes place by chance, will ever look to him as the principal causes of things, yet will give attention to the secondary causes in their proper place.” –John Calvin

Daily Scriptures 10/20/10

Scripture: Isaiah 58:11 The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. (NIV)

Nugget: We all go through times of need & weariness; those days where we feel as if we aren’t going to make it to the days we feel we need an encouraging word. The most amazing thing about it all is that during these times, God continues to guide, provide, & encourage us. There’s no strength better than the strength from God, who provides it abundantly.

Are you seeking God’s presence & offer of help during these times or are you trying to handle things on your own?

Quote: "You have no strength but what God gives and you can have all the strength that God can give." -Andrew Murray

Praise Song: "He Wants It All"

This week's Praise Song is Forever Jones' "He Wants It All".  This is such a beautiful song.  What a reminder of how much God wants from us & what we should be giving!  This song definitely makes me think about the things that I let take the time I should be dedicating to God; there's always room for improvement.

May this song touch your heart as well.

Daily Scriptures 10/13/10

Scripture: II Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. (NIV)

Nugget: There are areas in life where we all need improvement; in these areas, we consider ourselves weak. Where we are weak, Christ’s power is strong. This is why we must push ourselves through our weaknesses, seeing Jesus in them. Jesus lived & experienced what we’re going through & more; who better than Him to give us the power to make it through our weaknesses?

Don’t let your weaknesses hinder you; the power we have in Jesus is always available.

Quote: “We never know how much real faith we have until it is put to the test in some fierce storm; and that is the reason why the Saviour is on board. If you are ever to be strong in the Lord and the power of His might, your strength will be born in some storm.” -Anonymous

Daily Scriptures 10/12/10

Scripture: Proverbs 19:20 Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise. (NIV)

Nugget: There is no way for anyone to know everything; however, there is the constant opportunity for us to learn. There shouldn’t be a day that we aren’t learning & growing, seeking wise advice & accepting instruction.

How will you look at the challenges of today? Will they be overwhelming or will they be learning opportunities? There’s definitely knowledge to be gained in each day!

Praise Song: "God's Grace"

This week's Praise Song is Trin-i-tee 5:7's "God's Grace".  I remember this being one of the first gospel songs that I liked :)  It's by God's grace that we are blessed; it's by God's grace that so many things happen in our lives!  It's by God's grace that we make it through the things that come our way.  Thanking God for His grace & mercy!!

Daily Scriptures 10/11/10

Scripture: I Thessalonians 9:11 Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you (NIV)

Nugget: “Lead a quiet life”, many of those around us have no idea what this means. Their lives are constantly full of chaos & drama; no matter what you try to do to help, it doesn’t alleviate their situations.

This is why it’s so important for us to be mindful of what & who we let into our lives. Their situations or problems can become yours, even when you don’t expect it. Examine what & who you allow into your life & who you’re allowing to speak into your life. Do they align with a “quiet life”?

Quote: “There comes a point in life when you get tired of chasing everyone and trying to fix everything, but it's not giving up. It's realizing you don't need certain people and the drama they bring.” -Unknown

Daily Scriptures 10/8/10

Scriptures: Isaiah 43:11-12 11I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior. 12I have revealed and saved and proclaimed—I, and not some foreign god among you. You are my witnesses," declares the LORD, "that I am God. (NIV)

Nugget: God is God, period. Many people try to attribute the things in their lives to something or someone else, but we know who’s truly in control & who’s in the blessing business. Without God, we couldn’t be & wouldn’t be where we are today.

Continue to give credit & thanks where credit & thanks are due---God is too good to ignore or forget. As this scripture states, He is God.

Daily Scriptures 10/7/10

Scriptures: Psalm 75:6-7 6No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt a man. 7But it is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another. (NIV)

Nugget: Many of us have jobs & careers where we are seeking promotion; we work daily, proving ourselves & our work skills. What some of us fail to realize is that the promotion we’re seeking comes from God. Just think about it, He’s the one who blessed (& continues to bless) us with employment, so wouldn’t He take care of the rest of the details as well?

Work unto God & not man. He will exalt you in due time in all areas of life. We must remember He’s in control of everything.

Daily Scriptures 10/5/10

Scripture: Isaiah 55:6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near

Nugget: No matter how far we may stray from God & no matter how far we think He may stray from us, God is consistently & always near. God is unwavering; we must not forget this during the trying times & challenges.

Take the time to meditate, daily, on God, His presence, His word, & more. He’s near.

Daily Scriptures 10/4/10

Scriptures: Romans 4:20-21 20Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. (NIV)

Nugget: Abraham did not waver in his faith & all that God had promised him. The tests & trials that he experienced strengthened his faith in what God had promised. He knew that God would bring things to pass.

Abraham is a great example of how we need to be. When we face tests & trials, we should know that they are building our faith & that God is continually working things out in our favor. We shouldn’t see the tests & trials as stumbling blocks, but as the means to build something in us. This could very well be the preparation we need in order to receive what we’re praying for & what God has promised us.

Why You Should: Go on a Cruise Pt. 2

Last year, I went on my first cruise; had a great time.  This year, I experienced Part 2 of cruisin'.  Part 2 consisted of sailing to Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay, Bahamas, & Nassau, Bahamas.  I learned more & more about the beauty of the Caribbean & the beauty of God's creations.  Beaches where you can see through to the bottom, white sand, & a great atmosphere.  Absolutely beautiful.

These are only a few of the pics taken. With the great beaches & views, came great people.  Our tour guides provided us with a lot of good information on the places we visited.  I loved learning about the history of the Islands & how different things are there compared to the U.S.

Some of our excursions included an Island Bike Tour and Horseback Riding by Land & by Sea.  I enjoyed both, but have to admit, the horseback riding was a test for me.  I was a little nervous, but the experience was a good one.  The horseback riding by sea was an experience I won't forget.

I had a great time; there was so much to experience! Some of the most important lessons I was reminded of on this trip was to enjoy life, to rest, & to appreciate God's role in the creation of all that I experienced & saw.

If you haven't taken a cruise yet, definitely put it on your list of things to do!

Until next time.

Praise Song: "The Best is Yet Come"

This week's Praise Song is Donald Lawrence's "The Best is Yet to Come".  What a great Praise Song.  Just when we think that God's done with us, there are more blessings on the way!!  He's a continuous way-maker, answering prayers!  His blessings are unlimited.  God is too good!!

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 10/1/10

Scriptures: Matthew 5:11-12 11“God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. 12Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way. (NLT)

Nugget: We’ve all been in situations where people have talked about us, mocked us, lied on us, etc. In spite of what people try to do or try to bring against you, God has your back; the truth has a way of coming out. What we have to remember regarding situations like these, is that there’s nothing new under the sun; in the past, people (including Jesus) have experienced similar situations.

At times, we must learn to build a shell of indifference when people treat us out-of-character. In some ways, these situations help us to build strength & faith; God has our back & our reward is in Heaven.

Daily Scriptures 9/30/10

Scripture: Micah 7:7 Therefore I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; My God will hear me. (NKJV)

Nugget: Daily, I learn more and more about the importance of waiting on God. He continues to show me that His plans are not my plans. Even though there may be times we demonstrate our lack of patience, God continues to show & to challenge us with tests that can develop the patience in us.

Whatever you’re praying for & whatever you’re seeking, allow God to bring it to pass in His time; during this waiting period, you’ll be surprised about what God is developing in you in the process.

Quote: "God's timing has always troubled those who presume to know better." -D. Bruce Lockerbie

Daily Scriptures 9/29/10

Scriptures: John 3:20-21 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God. (NIV)

Nugget: We’ve all heard the saying, “What’s done in the dark, will come to the light.” What a true statement this is. Most people who do wrong or evil believe that they will never get caught or found out, but things eventually come to the light.

Doing the right thing isn’t always easy, but it shows obedience to God & His word. Doing the wrong thing always has a way of catching up with someone when they least expect it! Which path will you follow?

Quote: “The right to do something does not mean that doing it is right.” -William Safire

Daily Scriptures 9/28/10

Scripture: Ecclesiastes 9:17 The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a ruler of fools. (NIV)

Nugget: Have you ever noticed that the people who talk the loudest and have the most to say usually say absolutely nothing? But those who give you the sound advice and guide you by the hand made the most impression on you & your life? These are the type of people God has placed into our lives for a reason (of course the other type will cross our paths too); the thing is, is to appreciate those who make a lasting impression & impact. These are the people we should value!

Whenever I look back on my life, I think of the “quiet words of the wise” that have helped me to get where I am today; there’s definitely a lot of growth in wise things!

Daily Scriptures 9/15/10

Scriptures: Psalm 30:11-12 11You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, 12that my heart may sing to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever. (NIV)

Nugget: Growing up, I remember adults saying, “Prayer changes things” and “God is in control.” It wasn’t until I got “older” that I realized what they truly meant.

Have you ever had that situation where you felt you couldn’t get past it? Or the situation that weighed at your heart heavily? Or, for parents, the child that you constantly prayed for, where it looked as if nothing was happening? These are the types of situations that bring wailing and heaviness in our lives.

Looking back on these situations, now that God has handled them, we realize that God has turned the wailing into dancing and has made the heart sing! No one but GOD can do this. We can now praise Him because He brought us through (or we can praise Him through the situations we’re experiencing). Only God can turn wailing into joy! Now get your “praise on”!

Quote: “God turns you from one feeling to another and teaches you by means of opposites, so that you will have two wings to fly - not one.” -Rumi

Daily Scriptures 9/10/10

Scripture: Psalm 90:17 May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us—yes, establish the work of our hands. (NIV)

Nugget: Thank God for favor! He gives us favor in our lives, including at our jobs/work. There are days when work can be stressful & overwhelming, but thank God for allowing favor to rest upon us to make it through. Just think about the days when the big project was due & it was finished on time, think about the days other deadlines were met, think about the days when you had no idea what you were doing, but the job was completed, & the list goes on!!

God establishes everything—I’m grateful He continues to sustain me, even when I think I’m doing it “all myself”, God is always in control.

Daily Scriptures 9/8/10

Scripture: Psalm 143:10 Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing. (NLT)

Nugget: It’s so easy for us to get caught up in doing our own will; however, we must seek to do God’s will. Daily, we should ask God to teach & to show us His will for our lives. In seeking & doing God’s will, we are placed on level ground & firm footing, rather than on our own changing ways (which we know can be far from firm).

Whose will are you trying to stand firm in: yours or God’s?

Quote: "To fall in love with God is the greatest of all romances; To seek him, the greatest adventure; To find him, the greatest human achievement." -St. Augustine

Daily Scriptures 9/7/10

Scriptures: Deuteronomy 28:1-3 1If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. 2All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God: 3You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. (NIV)

Nugget: We are truly blessed! There is so much to gain by following God & obeying Him. The blessings don’t necessarily have to be material blessings, but those blessings that allow us to make it through each day: peace of mind, health, patience, etc. And let’s not forget: Favor!

Thank God for blessing us & allowing us to be a blessing to others; all He asks of us is to follow Him & to obey Him.

Quote: Life holds so many simple blessings, each day bringing its own individual wonder. -John McLeod

Praise Song: "I Want to Say Thank You"

This week's Praise Song is Lisa Page Brooks' "I Want to Say Thank You".  It's a heartfelt song that reminds us of the importance of the words "Thank You"; especially when we thank God for everything & all He's done for us!!  Be blessed!!!

Lord, this is a song to give you thanks,
help me express myself Lisa

Verse 1-
For every time that you protected me
when I didn’t know your name
(Lord I say thank you).
How you loved on me and cared for me,
when I didn’t return the same, I.
(Lord I say thank you)

Verse 2-
Now when It seemed like I was losing and I felt like giving up,
I (Lord I) “I wanna say” (say thank you).
Your love rushed in like a mighty flood and lifted me above, and I (Lord I)
“I wanna say” (say thank you).

I’ll be thanking you and praising You for the rest of my life.
For I’ve come to know the power of your love and sacrifice.
(thank you for your sacrifice)
I appreciate all that you do
(everything You do, and I want to say)
just want to say thank you

Verse 3-
Well, how you kept your hand upon me though I’ve Often gone astray,
Yeah I ….(Lord I say thank you).
And how your spirit gently led me back to safety in your way,
I wanna say Lord I say thank You.
(and I’ll be thanking you)

I’ll be thanking you and praising You for the rest of my life.
For I’ve come to know the power of your love and sacrifice.
I appreciate all that you do (I just want to say)
just wanna to say thank you (All of my days) ,
just want to say thank you

(And I’ll give you praise)…just want to say thank you. Lord I thank You.
(Lord I thank You. Yes I do.
Right now I just want to say thank you)
I wanna say! (I wanna say wanna say)
I wanna say thank you. (I just want to say)
I gotta say! (Gotta say, gotta say it, thank you) I gotta say thank you!

(Now you’ve been good) I want to say
(And I want to say)
I want to say thank you
(That you’ve been kind)
I've gotta say
(Gotta say, please just let me say)
I’ve gotta say thank you
(You made a way)
I want to say
(You let me see a brand new day)
I want to say thank you
(You never let me go astray)
I gotta say
(And I gotta gotta gotta say)
I gotta say thank you
(Thank you for my family)
I want to say
(Thank you lord for keeping me)
I want to say thank you
(Thank you Lord for bringing me through)
I’ve got to say
(And I thank you for my husband too)
I gotta say thank you
(Thank you Lord for saving me)
I wanna say
(Thank you Lord for loving me)I wanna say thank you
(And I gotta gotta gotta say)
I’ve gotta say
(I want to say, gotta say thank you)
I’ve gotta say thank you
(Thank you thank you)

Until next time.

Praise Song: "Lean on Me"

One of the first Gospel songs I remember really liking is Kirk Franklin's "Lean on Me".  The song offers encouragement & reminds us all of the necessary support we can find in others.  Thank God for good people who hold us up when we can't hold ourselves!!

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 9/2/10

Scriptures: Galatians 6:1-2 1 Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. 2Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. (NLT)

Nugget: One of the best things to have around you is a support system; those people (whether it be friends or family) that can lead you in the right direction when you go astray. These people provide guidance & wise counsel to lead you back to where you need to be; they provide Godly advice & share your burdens.

Thank God for the people He has brought into your life to share your burdens, provide wise advice, & support you no matter the situation! Thank God for allowing us to be the same to these people as well; a true, Godly support system is necessary!

Daily Scriptures 8/31/10

Scripture: I Chronicles 16:8 Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. (NIV)

Nugget: We must thank God for all things; the things we consider big & small. Each & every day is an opportunity to thank God for all that He’s done & all that He continues to do.

It’s so easy to take things for granted; but in looking at our pasts & what’s to come, we know that we’re truly blessed---no matter the situation!! God is truly good; that’s enough to send up a shout of thanksgiving!

Quote: “I prayed, thanking God, for making it all possible for me, because I knew where I came from.” -Thomas Hearns

Daily Scriptures 8/30/10

Scripture: Leviticus 19:12 Do not swear falsely by my name and so profane the name of your God. I am the LORD. (NIV)

Nugget: Many people use the Lord’s name in vain, with no regard to how disrespectful & damaging this action can be. His name is definitely not one that should be taken out-of-context or disrespected. His name is above all names & should be treated as such. There’s no one & nothing like the Lord; His name alone is powerful!

How do you use the Lord’s name? Do you hold it in high reverence or use it in some other manner?

Quote: “People do not know what the Name of God can do. Those who repeat it constantly alone know its power. It can purify our mind completely...The Name can take us to the summit of spiritual experience.” –Swami Ramdas

Daily Scriptures 8/27/10

Scripture: Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. (NIV)

Nugget: “Perfect peace”, this comes from trusting in God. Our part is to stay focused on God & know that He is in control. For us to release control & wanting to be in control is a difficult thing; however, God can do anything better than we can!

Who else can promise us this perfect peace? No one. Trust God & that He’s got it. Seek the peace that only He can provide.

Quote: “God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.” –C.S. Lewis

Daily Scriptures 8/25/10

Scriptures: Colossians 3:23-24 23Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, 24since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. (NIV)

Nugget: For most of us, work has been busy, & can be overwhelming, at times. We have to take each task one task at a time & do what we can. It’s easy to get caught up in the hectic on-goings at work & forget whom we’re working for—the Lord. We must work each day as if we’re working for the Lord, & not men. Our reward comes from Him! Just think about it, the jobs we have are because of His blessings & favor! So why not work as if we’re working onto the Lord?

Don’t forget whom you’re serving daily---God.

Quote: “It is impossible to get exhausted in work for God. We get exhausted because we try to do God’s work in our own way.” –Oswald Chambers

Daily Scriptures 8/24/10

Scripture: Psalm 73:28 But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, That I may declare all Your works. (NKJV)

Nugget: The best place to be is near God, especially with the things we face on a daily basis! (Not the mention the things we battle on an ongoing basis!). Seeking God’s guidance & continual presence is faith in action.

Having faith in God reminds us & shows us that His works are so amazing; who are you putting your trust in?

Quote: “God is God. Because He is God, He is worthy of my trust and obedience. I will find rest nowhere but in His holy will, a will that is unspeakably beyond my largest notions of what He is up to.” –Elisabeth Elliot

Praise Song: "Believer"

This week's Praise Song is Mary, Mary's "Believer".  This song mentions certain situations in life that can happen & in spite of these situations, God brings us through!  We must believe.

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 8/23/10

Scripture: Psalm 94:18 When I said, "My foot is slipping," your love, O LORD, supported me. (NIV)

Nugget: Whenever we’re lost, looking for direction, or losing ground, God is there. His love carries us through it all, both good & bad. In the midst of us slipping, God is the steady rock that holds us together.

Quote: “Many Christians estimate difficulty in the light of their own resources, and thus they attempt very little and they always fail. All giants have been weak men who did great things for God because they reckoned on His power and presence to be with them.” -James Hudson Taylor

Daily Scriptures 8/20/10

Scripture: II Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! (NIV)

Nugget: Knowing Christ for yourself & accepting Him as your Lord & Savior makes you a new person/creation! Having Christ in your heart & doing your best to live according to His will & His ways changes you. This transformation makes the old “you” go away to the point you don’t even recognize who you used to be!!

I thank God daily for changing me & continuing to change me. I thank God when people say “I remember when you used to…” “Used to” are the opportune words here!! “Used to” but not anymore!

Thanking God for changing the old into the new!!

Quote: "All that you touch You Change. All that you Change, Changes you. The only lasting truth is Change. God is Change.” –Octavia Butler

Daily Scriptures 8/19/10

Scripture: Psalm 119:165 Great peace have they who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble. (NIV)

Nugget: The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines peace as: “a state of tranquility or quiet” and “freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions.” These definitions remind me of the things that we allow to take peace from our lives: stress, work, people, etc. Imagine the true peace that comes from trusting in God & what His word says.

The scripture notes, “nothing can make them stumble.” NOTHING, not some things, but nothing can make them stumble whose love is in God’s law. What are you allowing to make you stumble? What’s taking your focus? Your peace?

Don’t give away the peace that comes with God!! Take it back & stand firm!!

Quote: “Peace is the deliberate adjustment of my life to the will of God.” -Unknown

Daily Scriptures 8/18/10

Scripture: Proverbs 21:30 There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD. (NIV)

Nugget: There is nothing that can succeed against the Lord!! No matter what may come against you or what people may plan against you, God’s in control. What power & strength we have when we realize this.

This is why it’s so important for us not to lose sight of God when we’re going through the trials & tribulations of everyday life; especially the battles we have with people!

Quote: "A man with God is always in the majority." –John Knox

Daily Scriptures 8/17/10

Scriptures: II Corinthians 10:17-18 17As the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the LORD.” 18When people commend themselves, it doesn’t count for much. The important thing is for the Lord to commend them. (NLT)

Nugget: Nothing we have or do is by our own might, but by God’s! We should not boast about what “we” have, do, or accomplish; it’s all because of God. He gives us the knowledge to achieve the goals & dreams He’s instilled in us; He gives us the jobs to live according to our needs (& sometimes wants!), & so much more.

If you boast, boast about what the Lord has done for you; His role in your life! Acknowledge His presence & power. Thank you, God! Where would we be without You?!

Quote: “You are not mature if you have a high esteem of yourself. He who boasts in himself is but a babe in Christ, if indeed he be in Christ at all. Young Christians may think much of themselves. Growing Christians think themselves nothing. Mature Christians know that they are less than nothing. The more holy we are, the more we mourn our infirmities, and the humbler is our estimate of ourselves.” –Charles Spurgeon

For My Singletons, Pt. 14

Hey Singletons! Long time no “talk” to. Not too much new on the horizon; however, more & more people are becoming “experts” on why there are so many single women out here. My friends & I’ve come across various articles stating why the single numbers are going up: women don’t go where the men are, women are too picky, the church is keeping women single (what!), & so on & so on. There are also movies out there saying why women are single!

To me, it’s sad, because many of these people don’t address that fact that some of us Singletons have standards; both single women & men have standards. I’ve come across the single males out there who say that there aren’t any “good women” out there & the single women who say that there aren’t any “good men” out there. I really believe that we somehow met the wrong people first in this dating process!! LOL. But it’s all a part of the process leading up to what God has planned, not what society has planned for us.

In her article, ”Still Single? What’s the Matter with You?”, Karin Anderson answers the question simply: “It just hasn’t happened yet”. Ms. Anderson couldn’t have put it more plainly! In her article, she does note some of the same things I’ve mentioned above as to why people state that she’s single. However, why do they have a problem with her being single, if she doesn’t?! I know I don’t have a problem in my singlehood & neither do my friends. AND a few of my married friends will continue to say, “Wait, don’t rush into anything.”

Life doesn’t stand still while Singletons are in the single part of our lives: we’re living, learning, & enjoying life. Don’t put yourself in “wait” mode!! Live. Also, don’t listen to those who aren’t in your shoes and who don’t know what God has revealed to you about your life & path.

I think God continually prepares all of us for what He has next in our lives; we just have to pay attention! If we go out of His sequence, we can truly learn a few things the hard way. As God works on you, He’s working on “the one”.

So, if someone approaches you with the question as to “why are you single?”, simply answer, “It just hasn’t happened yet.” –Karin Anderson

Until next time.

Praise Song: "God is Good"

This week's Praise Song is Deitrick Haddon's "God is Good".  It's an upbeat song that makes you want to thank God for everything :)  Thank God for being so good to me; especially when I don't even deserve it!!

Put your hands together
Well I said put your hands together now

Listen Y'all
Let me take a minute and testify
Tell the word what God has done in my life
Let me tell you that he took away the hurt and the pain
And now I gotta give him praise
I'm sayin'

(Ohhh) God is good [God is good all the time yeah]
All the time [And I wonder can I get a witness I'm sayin']
All the time
God is good
[He's a good God]
He's a good God [good God]

Now if the Lord ever came through for you
Let me see you lift your hands and praise him too (Yeah)
And when I was weak You made me strong
Gave me strength to carry on

God is good [You better act like you know God is good yeah]
All the time[Yeah]
I'm sayin ohh All the time [Ain't no doubt in my mind he's Good yeah]
God is good
He's a good God, good God
God is good [I wonder can I get a witness God is Good. Early in the Morning God is yeah]
All the time
I'm sayin ohh All the time [And late in the midnight hour God is]
God is good
He's a good God, good God

Can I say it like this y'all
He's a doctor [Yeah]
In the sickroom [Yeah]
He's a lawyer [Yeah]
In the courtroom [Yeah]
He's a friend [Yeah]
When you're friendless [Vocalizing]
Oh yes He's so Good yeah

God is good
All the time, God is Good
All the time
(repeat until end)

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 8/16/10

Scripture: I Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

Nugget: This scripture is a reminder to avoid evil. This includes everything from evil thoughts to evil actions to evil people. It’s definitely not easy to do some of these things; for instance, if someone treats you badly, the first reaction may be to lash out in return. The thing is, we must learn to control our reactions to people & things that affect us in a negative way. One way to do this is to change our surroundings & those who surround us.

Check your heart & the things that affect it in a negative way; it may be time for change!

Quote: “All concerns of men go wrong when they wish to cure evil with evil.” -Sophocles

Daily Scriptures 8/13/10

Scripture: Proverbs 18:1 An unfriendly man pursues selfish ends; he defies all sound judgment. (NIV)

Nugget: We must be careful of those we surround ourselves with & those who we allow into our lives. Selfish people can drain you & definitely get you off track. They are the ones who focus on the “me” & not the genuine friendship/relationship you have; in turn, rarely listening or seeking sound judgment.

Examine the people around you; see who’s truly for you or for themselves. Check your surroundings & those who surround you!

Quote: "The selfish man suffers more from his selfishness than he from whom that selfishness withholds some important benefit." -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Daily Scriptures 8/12/10

Scriptures: Hebrews 4:9-11 9There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. 11Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience. (NIV)

Nugget: With crazy schedules and hectic lives, many of us need to learn the importance of rest (myself included)! Rest is just as important as anything else. Our bodies are our temples & if we don’t take care of them, what does show God about how we treat our temples?

Take time to rest; our bodies & mind need rejuvenating. Rest, in turn, feeds your spirit—it all goes hand-and-hand.

Quote: "The time to relax is....when you don't think you have time for it." -Sydney J. Harris

Daily Scriptures 8/11/10

Scripture: Psalm 119:14 I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. (NIV)

Nugget: We should rejoice in following God and His word. Just as if we won any prizes or riches, we should shout more unto the Lord for His word, mercy, & grace. Many of us do the opposite, shout for material things & then think about God.

Rejoice in the Lord always! He & His word never fail.

Quote: “To be rich in admiration and free from envy, to rejoice greatly in the good of others, to love with such generosity of heart that your love is still a dear possession in absence or unkindness - these are the gifts which money cannot buy.” –Robert Louis Stevenson

Daily Scriptures 8/10/10

Scripture: Proverbs 21:20 In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish man devours all he has. (NIV)

Nugget: This scripture reminds me to “prepare for later”. We’ve all heard advice from the wise about “preparing for a rainy day”, but we probably didn’t take heed to it.

This scripture states that in the house of the wise, there are stores of food & oil, but a foolish man basically spends all he has. The wise person was in preparation, while the opposite was occurring elsewhere.

Think about & put into action ways you can be prepared; have your mind, home, spirit, etc. in order. This doesn’t necessarily mean monetary preparation only, but overall personal preparation. If self is right, everything else tends to fall into place.

Daily Scriptures 8/9/10

Scripture: I Corinthians 10:26 For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof.

Nugget: The earth is the Lord’s & everything in it! Nothing we own or have is truly ours. It all belongs to God. We tend to get this backwards; we think that it’s ours & we’ve done everything to get it. We must remember who’s in control of everything & who the true owner is: God.

Don’t take anything God has blessed you with for granted: job, family, health, home, & more. He’s made you a steward over these things; He trusts you to do well with all He has given you.

Quote: “In the total expanse of human life there is not a single square inch of which Christ, who alone is sovereign, does not declare, “That is mine!”” –Abraham Kuyper

Praise Song: "You Never Left Me"

This week's Praise Song is Ramiyah's "You Never Left Me".  A beautiful song with a lot of meaning!  This song reminds me that no matter what I've been through, God is always there.  No matter the path it took me to find God, He was always there from the beginning.  He was never lost, but I was.  Thank God for His mercy & grace; for saving me.

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 8/6/10

Scripture: Psalm 33:11 But the LORD’s plans stand firm forever; his intentions can never be shaken. (NLT)

Nugget: God’s plans for us are concrete; forever. What and whose other plans meet this criteria?! Nothing & no one! This is why we must stand firm in knowing that God will always come through; if He’s given you a vision, He’ll give you what it takes to make this vision come through. If He’s given you a plan, He’ll show you how to execute the plan. The list continues on! The main ingredient: God. We cannot do anything without Him in it & expect it to prosper.

Stand on God’s intentions & not your own. A foundation in God cannot be shaken.

Be encouraged, my friends!

Quote: “Faith isn't the ability to believe long and far into the misty future. It's simply taking God at His Word and taking the next step.” -Joni Erickson Tada

Sunday, August 1, 2010

For the past few years, I’ve reminded myself to complete a self-evaluation. This self-evaluation could include everything from friendships, to work, to dreams, and more. Where am I now and where am I trying to go? Who’s in my life? Who am I surrounding myself with? Who’s no longer to be a part of my life? And the list goes on.

I think that if we do this, we tend not to lose sight of the things we need to work on; the things that need improvement. This allows us to constantly work on changing the things within us & those around us (if need be). With so much going on in our everyday lives, it easy to get caught up & lose focus of the things & people that truly matter.

We put so much off for “later”. Dreams that do not get started or completed, the vacations that we “need to take”, that class we’ve been waiting to take, & so much more. What is it that you haven’t started, but wish that you had? What have you been trying to change, but haven’t taken the steps to do so? Who are the people & things you need to let go of in order to move to the next level God has for you? What is the one dream that if today was your last day that you wish you would’ve set out to do?

This current posting is filled with a lot of thought-provoking questions driven to push you (& me) into the things God has in store. We truly can’t get there sitting still or “waiting for later”. These questions are intended to start something; to ignite a fire that hasn’t been started :)

We must get to work, for sure!! No point in putting things off any longer.

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 7/21/10

Scriptures: Hebrews 10:35-36 35So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. 36You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. (NIV)

Nugget: Confidence in yourself goes a long way! You must believe in yourself & what God has instilled in you to do. He’s with you in this journey called life.

Confidence & perseverance sometimes go hand & hand; all days will not be easy in this journey, but if you hold fast to God, the gifts He’s given you, & His will, all things are possible.

Quote: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” –Maryanne Williamson

Daily Scriptures 7/20/10

Scripture: Proverbs 27:6 Wounds from a sincere friend are better than many kisses from an enemy. (NLT)

Nugget: I thank God daily for true friends. You know, the ones who tell it and say it like it is. I’m not saying their words don’t hit home sometimes, but the words come from a good place where they are trying to help me. More importantly, lead me in the right direction & to help me to grow.

That’s why it’s so important for us to recognize & appreciate the true people we have in our lives, because there are those out there who smile in our faces & don’t wish anything good to come our way; the fake people!

Yes, there’s nothing like wounds from a SINCERE friend; they help us to grow & to be better people.

Daily Scriptures 7/19/10

Scriptures: Numbers 6:24-26 24‘May the LORD bless you and protect you. 25May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you. 26May the LORD show you his favor and give you his peace.’ (NLT)

Nugget: These are the words God gave to Moses to relay to Aaron & his sons. What powerful words they are. It’s a reminder of God’s continual presence in our lives: blessing, protecting, smiling, grace, favor, and peace!! What else can we ask for, right?

The funny thing is, when things occur in our lives, we tend to forget the strength in God’s presence. Our faith waivers, but the words above are directly from the Lord; if God did it for Aaron & his people. He can still do it today.

Take hold of everything God has for you. Leave no stone unturned—God isn’t, neither should you.

Wow, in the past day and a half, I've heard "live each day like it's your last" from 3 different people (on 3 different occasions).  What confirmation this is!  We truly must enjoy the lives that God has given us.  I think that too many times we put off for later what we can do now.  I mean, what if "later" never happens, as the next day is not guaranteed.

I few years ago, I saw the movie "The Bucket List" (a good movie by the way); the movie truly makes you think about life & how we would do things differently if we knew that today could be our last day.  After seeing the movie, I wrote my own Bucket List of things I'd like to do.  In reviewing the list, there's more that I need to get to doing for sure :)

Enjoy life!!  Live life!!!  Love life!!!!  Don't wait on things to happen for you without doing what you can to make them happen.  God truly is there every step of the way.  What dreams have you put off?  What places have you not been to yet?  What have your children been asking you to do that you "don't have time" for?  The list goes on & on, but time doesn't necessarily do the same.

Live. love, laugh!!!!  Get to it ASAP!!

Until next time.

This week's Praise Song is Jennifer Hudson's rendition of Tremaine Hawkins' "Changed".  This song is a reminder of God's power in our lives!!  The changes He's made in us.  When we look back, we realize that the changes are uncountable!  He's done so much for us.  Thanking God for constantly, consistently, & permanently changing me.

May you be blessed by Jennifer's version of this song.  I just love her voice!!
