Daily Scriptures 7/21/10

Scriptures: Hebrews 10:35-36 35So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. 36You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. (NIV)

Nugget: Confidence in yourself goes a long way! You must believe in yourself & what God has instilled in you to do. He’s with you in this journey called life.

Confidence & perseverance sometimes go hand & hand; all days will not be easy in this journey, but if you hold fast to God, the gifts He’s given you, & His will, all things are possible.

Quote: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” –Maryanne Williamson

Daily Scriptures 7/20/10

Scripture: Proverbs 27:6 Wounds from a sincere friend are better than many kisses from an enemy. (NLT)

Nugget: I thank God daily for true friends. You know, the ones who tell it and say it like it is. I’m not saying their words don’t hit home sometimes, but the words come from a good place where they are trying to help me. More importantly, lead me in the right direction & to help me to grow.

That’s why it’s so important for us to recognize & appreciate the true people we have in our lives, because there are those out there who smile in our faces & don’t wish anything good to come our way; the fake people!

Yes, there’s nothing like wounds from a SINCERE friend; they help us to grow & to be better people.

Daily Scriptures 7/19/10

Scriptures: Numbers 6:24-26 24‘May the LORD bless you and protect you. 25May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you. 26May the LORD show you his favor and give you his peace.’ (NLT)

Nugget: These are the words God gave to Moses to relay to Aaron & his sons. What powerful words they are. It’s a reminder of God’s continual presence in our lives: blessing, protecting, smiling, grace, favor, and peace!! What else can we ask for, right?

The funny thing is, when things occur in our lives, we tend to forget the strength in God’s presence. Our faith waivers, but the words above are directly from the Lord; if God did it for Aaron & his people. He can still do it today.

Take hold of everything God has for you. Leave no stone unturned—God isn’t, neither should you.

Quote: “When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around.” –Willie Nelson

Wow, in the past day and a half, I've heard "live each day like it's your last" from 3 different people (on 3 different occasions).  What confirmation this is!  We truly must enjoy the lives that God has given us.  I think that too many times we put off for later what we can do now.  I mean, what if "later" never happens, as the next day is not guaranteed.

I few years ago, I saw the movie "The Bucket List" (a good movie by the way); the movie truly makes you think about life & how we would do things differently if we knew that today could be our last day.  After seeing the movie, I wrote my own Bucket List of things I'd like to do.  In reviewing the list, there's more that I need to get to doing for sure :)

Enjoy life!!  Live life!!!  Love life!!!!  Don't wait on things to happen for you without doing what you can to make them happen.  God truly is there every step of the way.  What dreams have you put off?  What places have you not been to yet?  What have your children been asking you to do that you "don't have time" for?  The list goes on & on, but time doesn't necessarily do the same.

Live. love, laugh!!!!  Get to it ASAP!!

Until next time.

Praise Song: "Changed"

This week's Praise Song is Jennifer Hudson's rendition of Tremaine Hawkins' "Changed".  This song is a reminder of God's power in our lives!!  The changes He's made in us.  When we look back, we realize that the changes are uncountable!  He's done so much for us.  Thanking God for constantly, consistently, & permanently changing me.

May you be blessed by Jennifer's version of this song.  I just love her voice!!

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 7/13/10

Scripture: II Corinthians 5:1 For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. (NLT)

Nugget: Our time here on Earth is temporary; all things here will fade & go away. God already has a place for us in Heaven that surpasses anything we’ve seen or lived here on Earth. Of course, we must take our time here on Earth as a gift, but not lose sight of the home that God has prepared for us.

If we thought our time here on Earth was something, wait until we get to Heaven!!

Quote: "Heaven is something that we can easily get excited and thrilled about and look forward to. It will be like Christmas is for children, only it will be the greatest Christmas we've ever had!” –David Brandt Berg

Counting All Blessings!!

A few days ago, I made it to the year and a half mark on my job!  Time has definitely flown by.  It's funny how I can reflect on the first few months of work & see the progression I've made over time.  There definitely where some struggles & challenges in there, but God, helped me to learn, to be more patient, & to grow.  I'm glad He didn't give up on me.

With the challenges I faced at work, as well as in life, I'm continuing to learn the importance of counting all blessings.  I'm learning not to take people & the little things in life for granted.  I think it's so easy for us to do this.  I have a few friends who are going through tough times & for them, it's difficult to focus on the good.  I listen to them & also try to remind them of the good things in life that God has blessed them with.  It's really easy to overlook the good when you're facing the bad.

I challenge everyone to take time out to find the good in the midst of the bad/challenges/etc. that you're facing.  There has to be at least one good thing you can say that God has done for you.  I'm sure that once you think of one thing, you'll find many more :)

Do not give up hope & keep your faith in tact.  There's a blessing in everything we face, all we see, & in everything we do.  The outcome of it all will be your testimony, in order to help someone else later on!!

Count all blessings!!!  There's too many to name :)

Until next time.

Praise Song: "With All Of My Might"

This week's Praise Song is Byron Cage's "With All Of My Might".  This song reminds us to praise God with everything that we have!!  There's no holding back when praising the Lord!!

(Pajam Let's Go)

Break forth, with shouts of joy
make melodies in your heart
unto the Lord, Our God is wise
and our God is Great, Consistent
love that will never change...

(repeat 2x's)

Dance with all of your might
stand strong in the faith
in the end it will be alright
every stronghold, it wont stand
every trial has to end,

I'll never, never, never never,
I'll never, never, never, never,
Oh... Never never, never, Never........

With All of my might
With All of my might
With All of my might
With All of my might

(repeat as directed)

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 7/9/10

Scripture: Psalm 145:9 The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. (NIV)

Nugget: I thank God that His compassion & kindness are nothing like ours! He continuously forgives us & loves us in spite of ourselves. Having these God-like characteristics is something we work to achieve daily, I believe.

How would God handle your current situation? For instance, if you’re in a disagreement with someone, would God show forgiveness or be bitter? If you’re having a bad day at work, would God show kindness to others in spite of how bad the day is going?

There are so many God-like characteristics we can adopt! The point is, we have to start somewhere, so why not today?

Quote: "It is not my ability, but my response to God’s ability, that counts." –Corrie ten Boom

Daily Scriptures 7/8/10

Scripture: Psalm 84:11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Nugget: There are things we encounter daily where we have to remind ourselves that God is in control. In these encounters, it’s sometimes difficult to do what’s right. However, this scripture reminds us that God continues to guide us & protect us! By doing this, He continues to bestow His grace & glory upon us—continuing to withhold nothing from us!

God’s blessings are present in every situation or circumstance!!

Quote: “However many blessings we expect from God, His infinite liberality will always exceed all our wishes and our thoughts.” –John Calvin

Happy 4th of July!!!

Wishing everyone a Happy and blessed 4th of July!! Do not forget the importance of today!!!  It's more than a day off from work; celebrate America's independence!!!  May we take nothing for granted.

Until next time.

Praise Song: "Silver and Gold"

This week's Praise Song is Kirk Franklin and The Family's rendition of "Silver and Gold".  I love this song!  It makes me think on the things that we, as humans, put stock in.  These things, at times, become more important than God, but this definitely shouldn't be the case.  May you be touched by this song!!

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 7/2/10

Scripture: Proverbs 4:25 Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. (NIV)

Nugget: When you’re focused & determined to achieve something, nothing should deter you. You’re determined to achieve your goal or vision, that’s how dreams are accomplished!

At times, these dreams & goals may seem unobtainable based upon situations, circumstances, or people that cross your path, but by focusing on God & the road ahead, you know that God has the final say-so in what He’s intended for your life.

Don’t lose sight of your dreams! Being focused & having faith is the key.

Quote: “Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.” –Gail Devers
