Daily Scriptures 1/31/11

Scripture: Psalm 86:5 You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you. (NIV)

Nugget: There is no one we know who is as forgiving as the Lord. His love runs so deep for us that He forgives us over & over. Now, I’m sure that there are days that He shakes His head & wonders, “What are they doing now?”; however, we must strive to be better than we were the day before, working to see ourselves as God sees us.

Thanking God for being who He is; thanking Him for loving us & forgiving us in spite of ourselves! There’s no love like God’s love!

Quote: “There is no love without forgiveness, and there is no forgiveness without love.” –Bryant McGill

Praise Song: "Breathe"

This week's Praise Song is Byron Cage's "Breathe".  Everything we have & everything we are is because of God; including the air we breathe.  We take so much for granted!!  I thank God for all things; the things I consider large & the things I consider small---everything is the same to God.  A blessing is a blessing!!

God is so good!  Where would we be without Him??

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 1/26/11

Scripture: Exodus 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Nugget: God is God; period. There is no reason for us to put any other gods before Him. He made the earth and everything within it. His plans & ways are unbelievable! When we look back over our lives, we know that God is in control.

Anything we put before God & our relationship with Him can be seen as a god. What else are you giving your power to, time to, & energy to? God is who we should focus on; nothing should supersede Him in our lives.

Quote: “We are all pencils in the hand of God.” –Mother Teresa

Daily Scriptures 1/25/11

Scriptures: Psalm 56:3-4 3But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. 4I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me? (NLT)

Nugget: We’ve heard it so many times, “just trust in God”. So why do we doubt? We let ourselves get in the way. We must continue to trust & praise Him for all that He’s done & all that He continues to do.

May we stay on track & keep God first in everything. Faith in Him is like nothing we could ever imagine.

Quote: “Faith consists in believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe.” -Voltaire

Daily Scriptures 1/24/11

Scripture: Ecclesiastes 11:5 As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things. (NIV)

Nugget: There are just some things that God will do that we will not understand. At these times, we have to remember that He’s in control of His plans for us & what He intends to happen in our lives. This is why our faith has to be in tact—we cannot doubt God or what He’s working on.

God had enough control to create us, the world, & everything that’s in it, so why do we sometimes feel He cannot handle the things that we bring to Him? Why do we doubt? At these times, we must truly complete a “faith check”. Stay in faith; do not waiver! There’s nothing God cannot handle.

Praise Song: "Work It Out"

This week's Praise Song is Troy Sneed's "Work It Out".  There's nothing that God can't work out on your behalf!  He's in control; no matter how things may look or seem--He will work it out!!

Be encouraged!!!

Daily Scriptures 1/19/11

Scripture: Matthew 7:12 Do to others what you want them to do to you. This is the meaning of the law of Moses and the teaching of the prophets. (NCV)

Nugget: One of my favorite sayings is, “Treat people like you want to be treated.” It’s amazing that people don’t take this into consideration when they treat others badly/etc.; however, it’s not entirely surprising either. We tend to be selfish at times.

Take a step back today when you catch yourself acting “out-of-character” or out-of-line. Put yourself in the other person’s shoes who is receiving the treatment that you could be dishing out. How would you feel? If it’s definitely not treatment that you’d want to receive yourself, then it’s time to do a self-check & reel yourself back in!

Quote: "Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you help them become what they are capable of being." -Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Daily Scriptures 1/18/11

Scripture: Proverbs 23:4 Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich. Be wise enough to know when to quit. (NLT)

Nugget: This scripture truly speaks to me. Not that I’m trying to get rich (being comfortable would be nice, of course), but I continue to work on achieving a balance between work & relaxation/enjoying life.

God definitely wants us to enjoy the fruits of our labor. There’s nothing wrong with working & earning an honest day’s pay; the thing is to enjoy what comes with earning an honest day’s pay as well.  As they say, “All work & no play makes Jack a dull boy.”

Quote: "We have overstretched our personal boundaries and forgotten that true happiness comes from living an authentic life fueled with a sense of purpose and balance." -Dr. Kathleen Hall

This month is already more than ½ over. Time truly waits for no one! 2011 continues on.

I recently celebrated my 2 year anniversary at my job (God is good!); He continues to guide me & allows me to learn & to grow at work. Also, for this year, a few friends & I are reading the Bible in a Year; I’ve been sticking to the schedule & am excited about this journey we’re all taking. It’s truly amazing what’s in God’s word. No matter how many times you read His Word, there’s always the opportunity to learn something new & to grow from Him & His word.

I finally had the chance to see the movie “Eat, Pray, Love”. I previously read a few critiques on the movie; most of them weren’t good. However, I did enjoy the movie & understood the message that was being told. One of the lessons the movie taught me was to live life. Live it, continue to learn from it, & to always grow. During this process, you continue to find out who you are & it’s okay to change for the better. I do recommend the movie, despite what the critics have said.

I hope your year is starting off well!! Live each day to the fullest; enjoying every moment—no matter what the day brings.

Until next time.

Praise Song: "Not About Us"

This week's Praise Song is Bishop Noel Jones' "Not About Us".  The song features the City of Refuge Sanctuary Choir.  This song highlights how our lives & what we have aren't really about us, but it's all about Jesus.  It's amazing how we can sometimes lose sight of this; however, what a powerful word this song shares!

There's no one and nothing like our Lord, Jesus!

Daily Scriptures 1/12/11

Scriptures: Genesis 31:1-2 1But Jacob soon learned that Laban’s sons were grumbling about him. “Jacob has robbed our father of everything!” they said. “He has gained all his wealth at our father’s expense.” 2And Jacob began to notice a change in Laban’s attitude toward him. (NLT)

Nugget: Jacob worked hard for everything he earned from Laban; however, Laban & his sons were bitter towards Jacob because of the growth he had & his progression. It’s a sad thing to work so hard for something, have people witness your struggle, & then be jealous of you when God blesses you & brings things to pass. As sad as this is, it’s the reality of many situations & relationships we come across.

Everyone who says that he/she is in your corner isn’t necessarily in your corner. Some people are around you for all of the wrong reasons. Always stay prayerful & have the discernment that God has given you about those you have around you!!

Quote: “It is in the character of very few men to honor without envy a friend who has prospered.” -Aeschylus

Daily Scriptures 1/11/11

Scripture: Proverbs 23:18 There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off. (NIV)

Nugget: The “future is bright”, as we’ve always heard. However, we have to see it this way; it’s one thing to hear it, but we have to feel it! We have to have the EXPECTATION that there is something on the way for us, that dreams will be achieved, that God is in control, & that things will come to pass!

Not only is the “future bright”, but we have hope & the hope is a sure thing if we only believe in God & what He can do.

Quote: “Without faith a man can do nothing; with it all things are possible.” -Sir William Osler

Daily Scriptures 1/10/11

Scripture: Genesis 37:19 And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.

Nugget: Joseph’s brothers didn’t support him, his dreams, or his vision; in many ways, they were jealous of him. It’s sad, but true; many of those who you’d think would be in your corner won’t be. This is why it’s so important who you share your dreams & goals with. It’s so important to have like-minded people on your side.

Don’t let haters & non-supporters distract you! Stay focused on what God has called you to do, His plan, & those who truly have your back. These are truly important when pursuing your goals & dreams.

Quote: “Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” –Harriet Tubman

Praise Song: "No Limits"

This week's Praise Song is Israel Houghton and New Breed's "No Limits" (Enlarge My Territory).  This is such a great song; it goes hand-in-hand with Jabez's Prayer (I Chronicles 4:10).  What a true example of how we shouldn't put limits on God!!

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 1/7/11

Scripture: Ecclesiastes 9:4 Anyone who is among the living has hope—even a live dog is better off than a dead lion! (NIV)

Nugget: God has a purpose for all of us! Every day that we wake up, move, & are clothed in our right minds (all of these because of His mercy & grace), is an opportunity to achieve all that God has instilled in us to do.

We tend to take the smallest things for granted & sometimes even the biggest things for granted. We are among the living---how is your hope today? What can you do today to walk on the path that God has set for you?? Hope exists every day that we are given the blessing to live.

Quote: ‎"You would not be alive unless God has another victory ahead of you." -Joel Osteen

Daily Scriptures 1/6/11

Scripture: Genesis 13:5 Lot, who was traveling with Abram, had also become very wealthy with flocks of sheep and goats, herds of cattle, and many tents. (NLT)

Nugget: Sometimes God blesses us through our associations, friendships, & connections. Lot, Abram’s nephew, was blessed because of his connection to Abram. Even in situations concerning enemies, God can bless us! (For example: lessons learned from mistakes made, things that happen to make us grow, etc.)

This is why it’s so important for us to watch our associations & friendships. We must evaluate who we have around us & the direction we’re going in. We definitely don’t want to block the blessings God sends through the right people!

Quote: “Angels around us, angels beside us, angels within us. Angels are watching over you when times are good or stressed. Their wings wrap gently around you, whispering you are loved and blessed." (Angel Blessing)

Daily Scriptures 1/5/11

Scripture: I Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. (NIV)

Nugget: “Godliness with contentment”….so very true. Having God & a God-like attitude is definitely the way to go when achieving & receiving anything in life. What we have & are able to do are because of God. Without having His hands in it, the things we achieve are temporary.

In whatever you do, keep God first! The things we achieve because of Him & through Him bring all the contentment we need.

Quote: "The most valuable things in life are not measured in monetary terms. The really important things are not houses and lands, stocks and bonds, automobiles and real estate, but friendships, trust, confidence, empathy, mercy, love and faith." -Bertrand Russell

Daily Scriptures 1/4/11

Scriptures: II Peter 1:3-4 3By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. 4And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires. (NLT)

Nugget: Everything we need comes from God & our relationship/connection to Him. However, we must do our part—getting to know Him, spending time with Him, & accepting Him into our hearts.

Because of His love for us & our relationship with Him, He gives us & promises us so much—even the things we don’t deserve. Staying focused on God allows us to grow in Him & to remove the things from our lives that do not belong.

We must continuously work on our relationship with God & our Christian walk!

Quote: “Today's process is God's faithfulness to His promise.” -David Parsons

Daily Scriptures 1/3/11

Scripture: I Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” (NKJV)

Nugget: It’s amazing the impact that love has on us. Love allows us to forgive, to let go, to care, & more. This love is also shown by God towards us. Because of His example, we know how to demonstrate love to others in a way that covers a multitude of things. This doesn’t necessarily mean to love blindly, but to love with an understanding heart as God does with us.

The love God shows us can be carried over into our everyday lives. How can we demonstrate God’s love today?

Quote: “There is nothing you can to do make God love you more! There is nothing you can do to make God love you less! His love is Unconditional, Impartial, Everlasting, Infinite, Perfect!” –Richard Halverson

This week's Praise Song is "It's a New Season" by Martha Munizzi and Israel Houghton.  What a fitting song for the New Year.  There's so much that God has in store; we must seek every opportunity that each day & the New Year brings.  It's a new season!  Don't take it for granted!!!

Happy 2011!!!

Happy 2011!!  Wishing you all of God’s best for the New Year!  There are so many things I’m looking forward to: both seen & unseen.

As we begin this new day & year of 2011, we must remember to leave the things & people behind in 2010 that do not need to go with us into 2011.  These are the things we must let go of!  Don’t hold on; let it go.  Sometimes, we hinder ourselves from what’s to come & what God’s trying to bless us with because of what we decide to hold on to.

Do an inventory of where you’re trying to go & what it will take to get there.  If there is anything that is not supposed to be there, let it go!  If there is someone who is not supposed to be there, let him/her go!  If there are things you’re working on to improve yourself, do these things!! Life is too short to see things any other way.  Do not take for granted the new opportunities, things, & people to come.  Make room for God’s gifts.

Again, Happy 2011!!!  Expecting God’s best this year & always.

Until next time.
