Praise Song: "Awesome"

This week's Praise Song is William Murphy's "Awesome".  What an awesome God we serve!  I'm blessed to have Him have chosen me to be His child.  Without Him, there's no telling where I would be!!

May this song bless you!  Praise Him :)

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 3/31/11

Scripture: Numbers 14:11 And the LORD said to Moses, “How long will these people treat me with contempt? Will they never believe me, even after all the miraculous signs I have done among them? (NLT)

Nugget: Moses had to be one of the most patience people ever! In leading his people to the Promised Land, he faced many challenges, but the majority of the challenges were with the people themselves.

Unbeliever, doubter, etc.; these words definitely should not describe Christians. However, these people were in such doubt & contempt for God it was unbelievable. Not only were they not focusing on Him, they were not focusing on all the miracles God had previously performed.

At times, I feel that we can be the same way; we focus on the here & now without thinking of God’s previous blessings & miracles! Why do we do this? Just think of what He did for our grandparents, parents, & now us; remember what He has done. God continues to be & is ALWAYS at work---what more could we ask for?

Daily Scriptures 3/30/11

Scripture: Proverbs 16:31 Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained by living a godly life. (NLT)

Nugget: Advice received from those who are more mature & who have lived before us is the best advice received. The gray hairs, wise advice, & experiences they’ve obtained are signs of life. They have lived & can share these experiences & knowledge gained with us.

I love this type of advice; it’s usually from a good place & better than the advice I can give myself and/or receive from others. With the advice being tied in with God, I couldn’t ask for anything better!

Daily Scriptures 3/29/11

Scripture: Numbers 11:1 Now the people complained about their hardships in the hearing of the LORD, and when he heard them his anger was aroused. Then fire from the LORD burned among them and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp. (NIV)

Nugget: Moses was leading his people to the Promised Land as God instructed, however, the people complained majority of the way. They complained about their hardships, lack of food, etc. They definitely weren’t focused on their blessings at the moment & the things to come. (Sound familiar??) In all reality, they didn’t think that God would get angry about their complaints & react to this anger.

We have the same tendencies as the people in this scripture. We complain from time-to-time rather than counting the numerous blessings we have. We also may think that God doesn’t get angry about this, but who wouldn’t get angry with those who they give & give to while not feeling appreciated? I’m sure many parents feel this way with their children!

When you find yourself complaining, counter the complaint with a “Thank you God for……” (Fill in the blank). I’m sure this will change your perspective on your situation :)

Daily Scriptures 3/28/11

Scripture: I Timothy 4:7 But do not follow foolish stories that disagree with God's truth, but train yourself to serve God. (NCV)

Nugget: There are so many things that we see & hear in today’s time where people want us to believe in anything but God. This is why it’s so important for us to stay in God’s word & know God’s truth. Otherwise, it’s easy to fall into the things we hear from others that contradict God.

Take time daily to spend with God; it’s more than going to church one day of the week (or a few days of the week including Bible Study, etc.)! It’s a continuous process that requires us to grow in our relationship with Him.

Quote: “The book to read is not the one which thinks for you, but the one which makes you think. No book in the world equals the Bible for that.” -James McCosh

For My Singletons, Pt. 15

Hey, fellow Singletons! It’s been a while since I’ve written. It’s interesting the things that have come up in the past few months or so. I can tell you for sure that I continue to learn the importance of waiting on God when praying for & waiting for my mate. We may feel that we know what’s best, but God truly gives us what we need; His plan is the final plan & when something is brought together by God, it’s one of the strongest bonds ever.

I know both happily married & unhappily married couples. The most interesting part is that I believe the unhappily married couples are outnumbering the happily married ones. This is sad because we all want to be happy & we want others to be happy as well. The thing is many people who are unhappily married chose their mates without God in the equation. Many of them chose their mates on their own accord & chose to ignore what God was telling & showing them regarding their choices. I continue to pray for them; because God does give us free will, but we must live with the outcome of the choices of this free will.

I pray for those who are single as there are challenges that face us as well. These challenges are numerous & differ for us all; however, through the differences, God is constant through it all. Let Him do His work in you & through you as He prepares the one for you! Don’t lose sight of Him in the midst of waiting; there’s a purpose for the waiting---it’s to allow you to grow in Him in preparation for what’s to come in His time.

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 3/23/11

Scripture: Psalm 20:1 In times of trouble, may the LORD answer your cry. May the name of the God of Jacob keep you safe from all harm. (NLT)

Nugget: There are so many things that we try to do in our own strength & power; sometimes we get so far out there that we wonder where God could be. However, being out there may open our eyes to the fact that we may not have called on God in the first place (some of you know what I mean!).

One of the best things about our God is that He always hears our cry; He is in the business of taking care of us. We must call on Him, wait, & allow Him to do His work!

Thank you, Lord, for always being “on call”!!

Daily Scriptures 3/22/11

Scripture: Psalm 25:1 In you, LORD my God, I put my trust. (NIV)

Nugget: Trust…it’s amazing the things we put our trust in—TV, people, cars, etc.; however, our trust in our Lord waivers from time-to-time (more often than it should).

When looking up “trust” in Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary it’s defined as “an assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something and one in which confidence is placed.” Our Lord is all of these & more. He should be the “one in which our confidence is placed”, not in everything or everyone else.

Where is your trust placed? Who is your trust in?

Quote: “Believe. The promises of God are real. They are as real, as solid, yes infinitely more solid than this table which the materialist so thoroughly believes in. If you would only believe, O ye of little faith.” –George Washington Carver

Praise Song: "I Believe"

This week's Praise Song is James Fortune & FIYA's "I Believe".  What a powerful song.  We must check our faith & just BELIEVE that God's will is to be done.  A little faith goes a long way!!  How's your faith?  How's your trust in God?  Do you believe in Him & His will?

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 3/21/11

Scripture: Proverbs 17:1 Better a dry crust eaten in peace than a house filled with feasting—and conflict. (NLT)

Nugget: One of my mom’s sayings is, “A peace of mind goes a long way”. The one place we definitely should have peace is in our own homes. We should always seek peace; anything outside of it is can be pure conflict & strife.

With the stresses of daily life, work, & other areas of life, the home should be your refuge of peace & rejuvenation. Pray over your home, pray over the conflict that can have the tendency to arise there, & make sure you feel God’s presence there (because as we know, God is in midst of peace).

Daily Scriptures 3/16/11

Scripture: Proverbs 16:1 We can make our own plans, but the LORD gives the right answer. (NLT)

Nugget: Sometimes, with our plans we can be so far out in left field that there’s no way we’re right. Thank goodness God’s there to show us the right way to go & to guide us.

In the process of making our plans, we must know that God is in this process. His answers can be so different from ours, we have to listen & pay attention! The right answers can be closer than we know.

Quote: “Faith is no irresponsible shot in the dark. It is a responsible trust in God, who knows the desires of your hearts, the dreams you are given, and the goals you have set. He will guide your paths right.” –Robert Schuller

Daily Scriptures 3/14/11

Scripture: Psalm 20:6 Now this I know: The LORD gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand. (NIV)

Nugget: We have victory in Jesus! The things we face are no battle for Him; all we have to do is call upon His name. Looking back on past victories, this can truly be confirmed!!

What are you trying to overcome? What are you battling? WHO are you calling to help you through it all?? Call upon the one who victory reigns supreme.

Quote: “A Christian has no right being in a fight unless it's a spiritual fight.” –Charles Stanley

Every Day is a Good Day!!

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how every day is a good day; no matter what these days entail. Each day we’re blessed to see is a day someone didn’t get to see & a day to try to get things right yet again :) We take so much for granted & it’s easy to lose sight of this.

When looking at the news & all that is going on in the world, my prayers go out to those affected by the earthquakes, tsunamis, flooding, & more. We look at the TV and begin to wonder, “Why is this happening?” and again, “Why is this happening to them?”. I think that there may be things in life that we don’t receive answers to, but I do believe that God does things to show us that He’s still in control; no matter what things may seem like.

So, my friends, live each day to the fullest; know the opportunities that God presents in each day. We have another opportunity to LIVE & there’s no reason we should waste the opportunity God presents us with. No matter what you see on the news, TV, or read about, focus on God & the fact that “every day is a good day!” Even if something occurs throughout the day that makes you think otherwise, every day is the prime gift to praise God for life, love, & health!

Enjoy your “good day”!

Until next time.

Praise Song: "How It Used To Be"

This week's Praise Song is Kirk Franklin's "How It Used To Be".  When listening to this song, it reminds me of the daily battles we go through; these battles cause us to get on & off track in our walk with God.  These battles cause us to turn our backs on God (sometimes) & allow us to lose sight of God.  Our God is such a good God that He never closes the door on us!  He is there with His arms opened wide.  May we always work to remember where we're going with God, where we came from, & that there's so much more in store!  Thanking Jesus for dying for our sins in order for us to continue to seek forgiveness & second chances.

Be encouraged, my friends!

Daily Scriptures 3/8/11

Scripture: Proverbs 10:12 Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs. (NIV)

Nugget: We’ve all heard that “there’s a thin line between love & hate”; this thin line can be both large & small at the same time. However, we should know when we’re leaning more towards one end than the other. Hate stirs up all kinds of conflict; love allows us to forgive & strive towards piece.

With love, many things are possible; with the love God gives us, that lives in us, & through us, all things are possible.

Quote: “Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illumines it.” –Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Praise Song: "Hallelujah Praise"

This week's Praise Song is CeCe Winans' "Hallelujah Praise".  Our Youth Choir at church usually performs this song.  They do such an amazing job!  I hope that this song makes you want to "get up & praise Him" too!

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 3/3/11

Scripture: Psalm 13:6 I will sing the LORD’s praise, for he has been good to me. (NIV)

Nugget: Praise—what a necessity in our relationship with God. Just as we pray & seek God, praise should also be something we continuously do. God is too good for us not to praise Him. Whether it be through a simple “Thank You, Lord” or listening to your favorite praise song, remember to give Him all the praise & glory while you can! There’s nothing like praising our Lord.

Quote: "God is to be praised with the voice, and the heart should go therewith in holy exultation." –Charles H. Spurgeon

Daily Scriptures 3/1/11

Scriptures: Psalm 73:25-26 25Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth. 26My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever. (NLT)

Nugget: God is consistent & constant; we should always focus on Him as being the unchanging part of our lives. He is the end-all and be-all; no matter what weaknesses we face in our bodies, challenges we face that make our spirits weak—God is our strength. Let’s not allow the things in our lives to overshadow our God. No one & nothing can do us like God can!!

Quote: “We never know how much real faith we have until it is put to the test in some fierce storm; and that is the reason why the Saviour is on board. If you are ever to be strong in the Lord and the power of His might, your strength will be born in some storm.” -Anonymous
