Daily Scriptures 5/31/12

Scriptures: John 4:25-26 25The woman said, “I know the Messiah is coming—the one who is called Christ. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” 26Then Jesus told her, “I AM the Messiah!” (NLT)

Nugget: In these scriptures, the Samaritan woman was drawing water from a well & had been talking with Jesus during the process. Their conversation had been going on for a little bit & they had been discussing the woman’s past, actions, etc. (John 4:7-24).

In reading these scriptures, one of the things that jumped out at me that hadn’t before was that the woman was talking to Jesus, He was right in her presence, & she initially didn’t know it---until He pointed it out to her.

How many times have we done the same thing? We’re looking for answers, searching all around us, & ignoring the fact that Jesus is there with us at all times---ready, willing, & able to help. We may seek answers in other things & people, going to Him last. I’m learning, & continuing to learn, that He should be our first stop! We should seek Him first in all things.

Let us not be blind to the fact that Jesus is with us at all times; we have to be willing & ready to acknowledge Him & His presence in our lives.

Quote: “Just remaining quietly in the presence of God, listening to Him, being attentive to Him, requires a lot of courage and know-how.” -Thomas Merton

Daily Scriptures 5/30/12

Scripture: Psalm 90:8 You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence. (NIV)

Nugget: God knows everything! From our secret thoughts to the things we think that “no one else knows”; God knows.

Our iniquities, shortcomings, challenges, & so much more are set before God. He is in control of it all; the thing is, we have to be willing to relinquish these things to Him--allow Him to step in & to heal us in the areas of our lives where sin is present. Once these things are in His light & turned over to Him, He continues to complete the work He has started in us.

What things, people, secrets, etc. are you holding on to? Set them before God & allow His will to be done. There’s no one better to give these things over to!

Quote: “Nothing hath separated us from God but our own will, or rather our own will is our separation from God.” -William Law

Praise Song: "Awesome"

This week's Praise Song is "Awesome" by Charles Jenkins and Fellowship Chicago. When listening to this song, I reflect on God & all that He's done & all that He continues to do. There's nothing that is happening, or that has happened, in my life that He's not in control of. I thank Him for the mountains, valleys, & challenges. His love & grace keeps on keeping me!  He's so awesome!

May you be blessed by this song!!

Until next time.

Off Track???

Have you ever gotten to the place where you’ve felt that you found your way, but then you got off track? Maybe the “off track” was actually the sign that you were on the wrong track to begin with. Hmmm. I’ve been doing a lot of praying & soul searching lately; I truly believe that God is trying to tell me something.

For the next few days or so, I truly plan to rest & to seek His guidance regarding what He wants me to do. Daily, I’m reminding myself that life is so short & I truly must live the life that God intends.

I pray for us all on this journey called life; seek God in all that you do & allow Him to guide you. His plans are endless and, as my cousin reminded me, “Don’t put yourself in a box”. This is so true about God too; we must not put Him in a box either.

There are so many possibilities, opportunities, & experience for us to learn about & to live through.

Be encouraged.

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 5/21/12

Scripture: Isaiah 14:27 The LORD of Heaven’s Armies has spoken—who can change his plans? When his hand is raised, who can stop him?” (NLT)

Nugget: Whatever God says He’ll do, He will do it. His plans are unbreakable. Of course, we may not know or see the details of how He will bring everything to pass in our lives; but the point is, no one can stop His plans.

We serve a great God; we must trust & know that He’s plans for us have been mapped out since the day we were born. Although things may not happen on our timetable, we shouldn’t doubt God, His works, or plans. God knows how & when to make things happen!

Daily Scriptures 5/17/12

Scriptures: I Corinthians 2:14-15 14The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 15The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments (NIV)

Nugget: There are many things I didn’t understand until accepting Jesus into my life. Before this, there were things I explained in my own way or things that I took for granted; in a way, I guess I can say that I was foolish in these things.

But once I accepted the Lord into my life, I realized all things came from Him; the questions I had & the need for understanding came from getting to know Him, reading the Word, & finding a great church home.

Thanking God for allowing us to be encouraged & strong in the Spirit. Let us pray for one another & also pray for those who don’t know Him; growing in the Spirit should be our desire.

Quote: “God commands us to be filled with the Spirit, and if we are not filled, it is because we are living beneath our privileges.” -Dwight L. Moody

Daily Scriptures 5/16/12

Scripture: Hebrews 2:1 We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. (NIV)

Nugget: Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in going through the motions in life; for instance, going to work, going to church, etc. Things for us become so common place that it’s difficult for us to get away from the routines that we create.

It’s so important for us to “check ourselves” when it comes to this; we want to make sure that we are paying attention to what we’re doing, learning, & hearing regarding God’s word. We want to be sure that we are walking in Him & not only going through the motions, but holding steadfast to God & applying it to our lives daily.

Let us not be drifting along, but steadfast & unmovable in God.

Quote: “The overriding principle that will assure us of all the blessings the Heavenly Father has in store, is that we be firm, steadfast, and immovable in obeying Him…in keeping His commandments and following the promptings of His Spirit.” -from

Daily Scriptures 5/15/12

Scripture: Ecclesiastes 11:5 As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things. (NIV)

Nugget: There are many things we cannot explain or understand about God & His magnificent works. There are times when I sit & look at the sky, people, & God’s many great creations in complete amazement. My thoughts usually contain the question, “God, how did you create all of this?” It’s as if He made the world His canvas & continued to create & to “draw” everything in its appropriate place & time.

We must take the time out of each day to enjoy the creations of the Maker of all things. Let’s not be too busy that we take the beauty around us for granted. The work of God is definitely to be appreciated.

Quote: “Love all God's creation, the whole and every grain of sand of it. Love every leaf, every ray of God's light. Love the animals, love the plants, love everything. If you love everything, you will perceive the divine mystery in things. Once you perceive it, you will begin to comprehend it better every day. And you will come at last to love the whole world with an all-embracing love.” -Fyodor Dostoyevsky

Daily Scriptures 5/14/12

Scripture: Proverbs 19:8 To acquire wisdom is to love oneself; people who cherish understanding will prosper. (NLT)

Nugget: Everyday, I feel that I learn something new; whether this be for work, personal growth, or spiritual growth, I feel that each day presents the opportunity to gain knowledge.

This is something we all should look to do---acquire wisdom. We’ve all heard the saying, “Knowledge is power”, & what a true saying it is. Knowledge is what gives us the power to prosper.

We definitely must use the God-given gifts that He’s given us, but we must continue to learn & to grow on a daily basis. Let’s challenge ourselves to find the knowledge to be gained in each day.

Trials & Tests

God definitely has a way or two of showing us that He’s in complete control of everything! My faith has undergone various trials & tests in the past few months. Some I feel that I haven’t passed, others, I think I’m on my way.

One of the most important things I’ve learned that is no matter what I’m going through, I cannot give room & power to the devil (or even my own thoughts) in these situations. I’m a child of God, & there’s no way He would want me to handle things in this manner!

Of course, various scriptures have come to my mind; I’ve been reciting them too, but at times, your heart, mind, & actions don’t line up. It’s as if I was going through the motions. However, in talking with very good & true friends, my eyes & mind have opened to what God wants me to do. He wants me to trust in Him, learn from these trials & tests, & know that He’s working on everything for my good! My God is amazing; our God is amazing!! He’s our Father.

Please be encouraged----no matter what you’re facing. Know that God’s plans will prevail---no matter what we may think or see. It’s all working out for our good. Our part is to trust in Him, believe, read His word, & be prepared for the strength & growth we’re going to gain along the way.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” -Romans 8:28 (NIV)

Here is some on time advice from my friend’s blog as well: Girlfriend Let’s Talk.

Daily Scriptures 5/1/12

Scripture: Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Nugget: Without faith it is impossible to please God---this is completely understandable as our relationships with God are based upon believing Him, His word, & that His son, Jesus, died for our sins.

We must search our hearts & minds regarding our faith; our faith should be unwavering & steadfast. As we come to God regarding our prayers, desires, problems, etc., there should be no doubt in our minds that He’s got everything worked out in our favor & is with us at all times.

God rewards those who diligently seek Him; more importantly, He rewards those who diligently seek Him, believe Him, & have faith that He is!!

Quote: ““Without faith it is impossible to please God.” The distinguishing characteristic of all really great men and women is an unwavering faith.” -Wallace D. Wattles
