Everyone Can't Go With You

I’ve heard the saying, “Everyone can’t go with you.” It’s amazing that as the years go by, this saying still applies. People are in our lives for a season, reason, or a lifetime. It is up to us to seek discernment from God regarding the roles these individuals play. As not everyone is supposed to stay or go with you into the next phase of your journey. Not everyone is supposed to be in the FRONT ROW of your life.

I continue to pray for discernment regarding the relationships & friendships I have. As time goes by, God continues to show me more areas where I learn & grow; He also continues to remove people from my life who aren’t supposed to be there. Although these individuals & occurrences with them were temporary, the intent & impact were lasting; there purpose(s) was made clear. No matter what happens, I know that everything is for a reason & it is to make me grow stronger, achieve goals, & more importantly, grow in the Lord.

While keeping this in mind, I am aware that as God removes people from my life, He does have people who remain here, while bringing others into my life as well. I’m grateful for each person’s role in my life. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

May we continue to seek God’s guidance regarding the relationships we have.

Until next time.

Happy Easter & Praise Song: "No Greater Love"

Happy Easter!!!  Our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, is risen!!  There's no love like the love God has for us; He gave His Son to die for our sins.  Thank you Lord for loving me more than words can say.

As we go through today & life, may we continue to walk, talk, act, & be the people God wants us to be.  There's no better example than our Lord Jesus.

From Joel Osteen
This week's Praise Song is the Fred Hammond's rendition of "No Greater Love".  This song is powerful!!  May it touch your heart & spirit.

Until next time.

Soul Secrets: When It's Hard to Forgive

Lord, there is nothing harder than trying to forgive when you’ve been desperately wounded. It’s worse when the offenders show no remorse, but gloat over the pain they have brought into your life. And that’s where I am. I do not want to forgive.

But I know enough to understand that the command of Your Holy Word is forgiveness--no matter what. You have not given me an option.

Help me to realize that unforgiveness can kill. It can kill my friendships, my joy, even my body. So Lord, I am choosing today to forgive all those who have stolen from me, all who have broken my heart, all who have wounded my body or my soul, all who have haunted me for years. In the name of Jesus, I forgive.

Thank You, Lord, for strength to walk out this forgiveness in my life. Thank You for using it as a testimony to the power of Your love. And thank You that, as I chose to forgive moment by moment, the feelings will follow.

-From the T.D. Jakes Woman Thou Art Loosed Holy Bible

Daily Scriptures 3/19/13

Scriptures: Matthew 6:14-15 14For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. (NIV)

Nugget: Forgiveness is something many of us struggle with on a daily basis. I’ve found that one of the most difficult things to do is to forgive. We say that we’ve forgiven someone, but have we truly? What does it mean to really forgive someone? This has been a question that has been on my heart for a little while.

The other day at church, there was a great word on forgiveness. It has been one of the most powerful sermons I’ve heard at my church; the sermon touched me to the core---so much so, that I cried & cried during it & after it. The thing is no matter how hard I tried to stop crying, I couldn’t. I know that God was speaking directly to me with the words that were spoken.

I continue to work on forgiveness as indicated in today’s scriptures, but I know the true strength to do this will come from God & all the love that He’s shown to me in allowing Jesus to die for my sins. I need to build upon this strength to seek God on my journey to forgiving others, as well as myself. I pray that these words touch you in some way!

Praise Song: "Break Every Chain"

In my devotional time the other day, I heard this song, "Break Every Chain" by Tasha Cobbs.  This song & its words had an affect on me.  It reminded me of the various things & people that I haven't let go of, the things in the past that I allow to continue to bother me, & even sometimes, the things in the present that do the same thing!

What powerful words are present in this song as a reminder to just let go!  Let go of anything that's holding you back, holding you down, or just bothering you in general.  Turn it over to our Lord & Savior, Jesus!

I was touched by this song, & I do hope it's an encouragement to you as well.

Until next time.

Every day I learn more & more about changes. Just when I think that I have experienced something, & learned from it, God provides another opportunity for me to learn again.

What I know for certain is that I must be open to the possibility of change & what God wants me to gain from my experiences. In all possibilities, there’s the chance to grow from them. Funny how God makes this happen when I don’t expect or in the most inopportune time!

My recent experiences have been dealing with friendships & the relationships I’ve developed with these friends. I began to realize that many of us use the term “friend” so easily; when in reality the term friend is meant for someone who has a close connection with you, someone who’s been there with you & seen it all---both the good & the bad. And guess what, they are still there. A friend has been there with you & for you; they’ve seen you grow & know where you came from while understanding where you’re trying to go! So the term “friend” shouldn’t be used lightly. To me, my friends are a part of my family.

My recent experiences have also reminded me of the term “acquaintance”. Yep, sometimes we confuse these with friends, when in reality, these individuals are just passing through or sometimes, they serve a particular purpose in our lives & then go on. Not to undermine their roles at certain points-in-time in one’s life, but the best thing to do is not to get them confused with the term “friend” & keep them in your life beyond the time God intends for them to be.

I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason; we may not see it or know why it’s happening at the time, but we usually learn the reason later on. Also, if we don’t learn from it, there could’ve been a lesson in it for the other person.

Look for the lessons to be learned in the experiences you have; God has a purpose for everything!

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 3/13/13

Scripture: 2 Thessalonians 1:11 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. (NIV)

Nugget: I thank God for the people He has placed in my life; I’m truly blessed to have great people who surround me, who pray for me, & those who are an encouragement to me. Without these people, I don’t know where I would be.

Being surrounded by like-minded people is a necessity in life; these people are, most times, the ones who keep us going during those difficult times in our lives. They also put us before God when we get off track & during the times where we need extra prayer---they lift us up in prayer regarding God’s grace & goodness when we’re weak, praying for us to have the strength needed to go on.

May all of our prayers continue to go up for one another; without these prayers, our lives wouldn’t be the same.

Quote: “Nothing tends more to cement the hearts of Christians than praying together. Never do they love one another so well as when they witness the outpouring of each other’s hearts in prayer.” -Charles Finney

Daily Scriptures 3/12/13

Scriptures: Ephesians 6:23-24 23Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.

Nugget: In my Bible devotional time today, I read the last chapter of Ephesians; the last 2 verses in this chapter are the ones indicated above. In reading Paul’s last words to the people of Ephesus, I began to ponder on the last words I’ve spoken to people; whether this be departing from work, home, visiting friends or family, etc. Paul’s words reminded me of how important our departing words & actions can be.

Paul wished the Ephesians peace, love with faith, & grace. On top of all of this, he reminded them of the love they have for our Lord Jesus & said “Amen” (which to me, means he was sending up a prayer up as well). Paul’s words, as well as actions, are an example of some areas I need to change; at some point, we’ve all departed from someone with actions & words we’ve regretted. The point is, how can we change this from here going forward?

Take time today & think about your departing words & actions of those you see today. Let’s try to follow Paul’s example.

Quote: “Words are a form of action, capable of influencing change.” -Ingrid Bengis

Praise Song: "More"

It's been a while since I've posted a weekly Praise Song (my apologies!).  This week's Praise Song is Lawrence Flowers and Intercession's "More".  I heard this song at church yesterday & thought about the areas of my life where I need to give God more.  What can I do better?  How can I continue to grow in Him & all that He's done in my life?  Even in the areas where I take for granted the simple things.  What am I allowing to hinder me in giving Him more?

There's more that we call all do to give our Lord & Savior MORE.

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 3/4/13

Scripture: 1 John 1:4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

Nugget: I am continuously amazed by the Bible! I’ve always heard, & have always said, that “Everything is in the Bible.” I think that the surprise for me is when I find that thing/issue/etc. that I’m looking for an answer for within the Bible. Not necessarily that I’m surprised that it’s there, but the acknowledgement is there when I take the time to learn, read, & seek the answers that God provides to me through the Bible.

One of God’s greatest gifts to us is the joy that can only come from our relationship with Him. This joy includes taking the time to study His word, to seek Him, & to find what it is He wants us to discover. There’s no better place to begin this journey than with Him & our Guidebook!

Take the time to read the Bible & what it is God wants us to learn; our journey to joy can begin with a simple, but life changing, step.

Quote: “The book to read is not the one which thinks for you, but the one which makes you think. No book in the world equals the Bible for that.” -Mccosh
