Daily Scriptures 3/12/14

Scripture: Job 1:22 In all of this, Job did not sin by blaming God. (NLT)

Nugget: Job’s story is one that is well-known & well-taught throughout our Christian journeys. Job experienced a massive lost of both family/loved ones & possessions. Instead of Job’s faith being dwindled, he praised God in the midst of his circumstances.

Reflecting back on my life, there were many things that I blamed God for; not realizing some things were happening to strengthen me, other things, I caused myself, & some things I may not receive the answer for until a later time.

In spite of my early thoughts & actions, I now know better, instead of blaming God, I praise Him & thank Him through it all. My thought is now, “God is in control. He knows what He’s doing.”

Continue to praise God; look at your circumstance as an opportunity to grow in God, faith, & praise.

Daily Scriptures 3/11/14

Scriptures: Romans 1:11-12 11I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong— 12that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith. (NIV)

Nugget: Who God puts in our lives is a blessing! I’m thinking on the various people God has either let stay in my life or those who have crossed my path at some point---these people have imparted gifts into me & have allowed me to grow & become stronger. From those who have sent an encouraging email, those who came into my life for a season, & those who remain here for a lifetime---they have truly been a blessing (& are a blessing) to me.

But this path is also mutual---we should also be encouraging others along our journey! Give back to others what God has given to you! Don’t take this aspect of relationships/friendships/etc. lightly. This journey is not one that we are on alone.

Daily Scriptures 3/10/14

Scripture: Proverbs 6:28 Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched? (NIV)

Nugget: There’s the saying, “If you play with fire, you’re going to get burned.” The scripture above reminds me of this saying. How many times have we done something, knowing it wasn’t right, knowing it shouldn’t be done, & faced the consequences behind it? Whether it be from disobeying our parents to staying out/up too late, or more, we definitely felt the results of being burned (or as the scripture states, “scorched”).

God gives us free will---it’s up to us what we do with this free will. We should use wise discernment in the actions we take & if these actions are outside of “what is right to do”, expect the consequences behind them. There’s no way to continue down a dangerous path, expecting it to be easy.

Use the free will God has blessed you with wisely! Try to avoid actions & situations that lead down the path of destruction.

Daily Scriptures 3/6/14

Scripture: I Thessalonians 5:25 Brothers and sisters, pray for us. (NIV)

Nugget: There’s nothing like having a core group of people who can pray for you. These are the people you turn to when requesting prayer, guidance, & support. These are the people who can tell you the truth, tell it like it is, & send up a prayer for you with no hesitation. They are a rare find, but when you have them, there’s nothing they wouldn’t do for you & vice versa.

Begin examining your relationships & friendships to determine if you have this core group around you; additionally, are you being the same core to someone else?

Daily Scriptures 3/5/14

Scripture: Psalm 32:7 You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah (NKJV)

Nugget: Everyday, we’re faced with troubles; those both seen & unseen. There are many things that God continually protects us from as the day goes on. In the troubles that we are aware of, He does the same; even if, at the time, it doesn’t feel like it.

God is our ever-present hiding place & provides the perseverance we need to continue on. AND as we continue through the troubles, God surrounds us with songs of deliverance! Amazing!

Daily Scriptures 3/4/14

Scripture: Psalm 90:1 Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. (NIV)

Nugget: My heart & thoughts have been on my grandparents lately. They have all passed & have gone on to be with the Lord; the most recent passing almost 2 years ago. I do miss them & have been reflecting on the things they’ve taught me--the things that I’ll take with me always.

I’m reminded of their faith in God & all that He did for them; these things still impact me & my family today. Even then, all those years ago, God was their dwelling place. He was there for them as He is for me now. God has been the one constant in past generations, the current generation, & the future generations to come.

Without the previous generations believing & trusting in God, I don’t know where I’d be today---they laid the foundation. We serve an awesome God; One who is the thread for the past, present, & future.

Daily Scriptures 3/3/14

Scripture: Psalm 92:5 O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.

Nugget: I came across this scripture in my devotional time. I began to reflect on it & the impact it has had on me. God’s works are GREAT & His thoughts are VERY DEEP! Now if the Bible says, great & very, we know this is the case. Our God can do all things.

We mustn’t underestimate what God can do for us. Sometimes we get down on ourselves, situations, & circumstances, but God’s works are great & we’re His works! He’s made us for greatness.

Not only this, but God’s thoughts are very deep; for me, this means His thoughts are way beyond my understanding! His thoughts for us go beyond anything we can think, see, or believe.

Let us believe & trust in the endless power of our God!
