So many of us are seeking & praying for our purpose in life. That one thing that God has called us to do; the thing He has gifted us to do. With life & everything that’s going on, it’s no wonder what God is trying to reveal to us can get lost within the “crowd”. This is why continual prayer, time with God, & getting into His word are so imperative.

During my seeking & praying, I began to see how “What is my purpose?” has become a desire for so many. I decided to look up “purpose” in the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary & the following definitions were provided: “1) the reason why something is done or used : the aim or intention of something, 2) the feeling of being determined to do or achieve something, and 3) the aim or goal of a person : what a person is trying to do, become, etc.”

For each of these definitions, I added “in God” at the end. For instance, “The aim or goal of a person; what a person is trying to do or become in God.” It does bring a new awareness to purpose & what we are seeking, but all of these things can be done in God. Without His guidance & direction, our purpose wouldn’t have his stamp of approval.

I, too, am one who’s looking for & praying for what God has called me to do; a lot of times, He’s told us what to do & we have to “just do it”, by stepping out on faith. For many, this faith can even be mustard seed faith---it’s the only faith that’s carried many through most of the toughest days. Thanking God for the power of mustard seed faith.

Continue to pray & seek God for your purpose in life. He’ll reveal this to all of us; we must be ready to believe, receive, & act on this IN GOD.

Until next time.

Daily Scriptures 8/19/14

Scriptures: Lamentations 3:31-32 31For the Lord will not cast off forever. 32Though He causes grief, Yet He will show compassion According to the multitude of His mercies. (NKJV)

Nugget: Sometimes we feel that God has forgotten about us; it’s as if our prayers aren’t being heard or we feel that we can’t hear Him. Sometimes we even feel that He’s not blessing us during our circumstances & situations. However, God is still there.

But God is a God of mercy & grace. Most times, what we’re experiencing is to allow something to grow in us; to grow our faith, patience, strength, etc. in Him. Without the trials, we probably wouldn’t grow.

God’s compassion & love are greater than we can ever understand. Although He may hold some things off from us at times, His plan & love will prevail.

Quote: “God's love is like the sun, constant and unchanging, you'll wake up one morning and realize that nothing can take that away.” –Kingsley Opuwari Manuel

Daily Scriptures 8/18/14

Scripture: Zechariah 10:1 Ask the LORD for rain In the time of the latter rain. The LORD will make flashing clouds; He will give them showers of rain, Grass in the field for everyone. (NKJV)

Nugget: Faith is asking God for something in the midst of what seems impossible. This scripture reminds us to ask God for what we’re seeking & He will give more. Of course, this will be according to His will, but it all begins with faith & seeking God.

Sometimes in the midst of our asking for something we consider “big” or impossible, God provides & gives more. This scripture states that the people asked for rain, but God will give them “showers of rain” & “grass in the field”. What a great God we serve; He can & will give above & beyond!

Thanking God for being a God of abundance!

Daily Scriptures 8/14/14

Scripture: Proverbs 19:15 Laziness casts one into a deep sleep, And an idle person will suffer hunger. (NKJV)

Nugget: We should always be working towards something; laziness should not be in our vocabulary or actions. How would we achieve anything by being idle? This scripture reminds us that an idle person suffers hunger; if we’re not working, we’re not eating. If we’re not working, we’re not achieving dreams, goals, etc. If we’re not working, we’re not growing.

Laziness is not something that should describe us. Of course they’ll be days where we need rest, but idleness shouldn’t be a continuous thing.

Daily Scriptures 8/13/14

Scripture: Ephesians 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us (NKJV)

Nugget: Regardless what is going on in our lives, God is there. We may be facing challenges, but God…. We may be facing doubts, but God…... We may be discouraged, but God…… The “but God” includes His mercies, grace, & love.

Life can become overwhelming, especially with the things we face, but there’s nothing that we cannot do through God because of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. When these challenges/etc., come upon us, we must go to God, pray, & seek His continuous love, mercy, grace, & guidance.

Quote: “Trust the past to God’s mercy, the present to God’s love, and the future to God’s providence.” – St. Augustine

Daily Scriptures 8/12/14

Scripture: Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it. (NKJV)

Nugget: There are many things that we want in life; some of these things we go out on our own to get & others we wait for the Lord to bless us with. There is definitely a difference in receiving what’s in God’s will versus receiving the things that we “made happen”. Even if God leads you to do something, there’s peace that comes with it.

When God blesses us with something, there’s no sorrow, strife, struggle, etc. connected to it. When God answers we usually have the feeling of “everything falling into place.” When we make things happen for ourselves, most times, there’s chaos. I’ve experienced both for sure.

Allow God to bless you in His will & His way; don’t try to make things happen on your own. Even if you’re stepping out on faith, let God be your guide---He knows the way.

Quote: “If you’re not seeing God move in your life right now, one of two possibilities must be considered. Either your requests are not God’s best and will probably not be answered the way you’d like or it must not be the right time. If God were to answer that prayer the way you are hoping, it could interfere with his ideal plan for you.” –Joel Osteen

Daily Scriptures 8/11/14

Scripture: Psalm 29:4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; The voice of the LORD is full of majesty. (NKJV)

Nugget: God’s voice is powerful, but do we listen for it? Sometimes, we do so much talking & overshadowing God, but not sitting still & listening for Him to speak. I’m doing my best to listen to that “still small voice” that can only be God answering me & talking to me.

When you pray, be still---listen for God to speak to you. His voice is full of majesty, direction, truth, & the answers we seek. God speaks, all we have to do is open our hearts, be still, & listen for the voice that is only His.

Quote: “Prayer is when you talk to God; meditation is when you listen to God.” –Diana Robinson

Daily Scriptures 8/8/14

Scripture: Haggai 1:7 Thus says the LORD of hosts: “Consider your ways! (NKJV)

Nugget: This scripture speaks volumes! “Consider your ways!” Do we consider the things we do, our actions, & thoughts when we’re seeking things from God? For example, if we’re praying on something, are we doing our part too? Reading our Bible, going to church, believing, working, etc.? Does this align with God & His will?

Sometimes what we’re seeking is so tied up into what we’re doing (or not doing) that we could be blocking our own blessings. God’s asked us to consider our ways for a reason; self-reflection & realization are a part of this Christian journey.

Don’t block your own blessings.

Daily Scriptures 8/7/14

Scripture: Numbers 9:8 And Moses said to them, “Stand still, that I may hear what the LORD will command concerning you.” (NKJV)

Nugget: Moses awaited God’s response regarding questions concerning the Israelites; they came to Moses with questions in which Moses wanted a clear understanding from God on how to respond & proceed. In doing this, Moses told them to stand still in order for him to hear God’s command.

What a reminder for us to be still in order to hear God; I continually learn the importance of this daily. Many times, we hurriedly pray, rush through the conversation with God, & never hear His response. There was a reason why Moses told the Israelites to stand still in order for him to hear God—there were things going on.

May we pray, be still, & wait to hear & listen what God is guiding us to do. Sometimes, our answers are in the midst of connecting with God in the stillness.

Quote: “We need silence to be alone with God, to speak to him, to listen to him, to ponder his words deep in our hearts. We need to be alone with God in silence to be renewed and transformed. Silence gives us a new outlook on life. In it we are filled with the energy of God himself that makes us do all things with joy.” –Mother Teresa

Daily Scriptures 8/6/14

Scriptures: Psalm 103:14-16 14For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust. 15As for man, his days are like grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. 16For the wind passes over it, and it is gone, And its place remembers it no more. (NKJV)

Nugget: “Life is short”, it’s something that I’ve said more & more as time flies by. The thing is knowing this & doing something about it. I began to ask myself, “Am I living as if life is short? Like it’s a gift? Like today could be my last day?”, and if not, what could I do to change this?

I’m learning to take time to do the things I’ve been putting off doing. I’ve been taking the time to spend with & to talk to friends & family that mean the world to me. I’ve been taking the time to reconnect & to spend with God. Just the peace in learning to slow down has been a gift!

Don’t let life pass you by; enjoy the journey. As these scriptures state, “We are dust. The wind passes over it, and it is gone.” Powerful words to consider!

Quote: “Today, just take time to smell the roses, enjoy those little things about your life, your family, spouse, friends, job. Forget about the thorns - the pains and problems they cause you - and enjoy life.” –Bernard Kelvin Clive

Daily Scriptures 8/5/14

Scripture: Psalm 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever. (NKJV)

Nugget: The 23rd Psalm is one that most of us know by heart; it’s the one that is the “go to” Psalm for many occasions & circumstances. It has become so common to many, that reciting it can become routine rather than us paying attention to what it’s saying.

A good friend reminded me of the importance of this Psalm. There are various things I’ve been facing in the past year & my friend gave me this particular verse as a reminder of God & what He can & will do.

As a child of God, surely goodness & mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. God didn’t say that goodness “may” follow me or that it’ll be for “some” days, he said surely & all the days of my life. Now that’s a God promise for sure!

Take time today to really read the 23rd Psalm, not recite it, but to read it in detail. There’s so much in these words regarding God & the promises He’s made to us.

Walk in His assurance today & always.

Daily Scriptures 8/4/14

Scripture: Psalm 16:11 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. (NIV)

Nugget: God didn’t give us the gift of life to just exist, He’s given us this gift in order to LIVE. Daily, I’m reminded of how routine & stagnant aspects of life can become; however, I’m also reminded that this isn’t how God wants things to be. We shouldn’t become so routine that we forget to live, love, & laugh (one of my favorite sayings). We should enjoy this life to the fullest.

God has made our paths known; He fills us with joy in order to walk this journey & its experiences. What more could any Father want for His children?

Don’t become so routine that you’re existing & not living! Enjoy what God has blessed you with; this life is a journey that I don’t want to miss & I don’t want to pass me by!

Daily Scriptures 8/1/14

Scripture: Colossians 1:9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives (NIV)

Nugget: I thank God for those He’s placed in my life that continually pray for me; these are people who I’ve asked to pray for me & even those who pray for me without my asking. Truly genuine people with the intentions of seeing me grow spiritually, by gaining God’s knowledge, guidance, wisdom, & understanding.

There’s nothing like the people who God has placed in our lives to guide us along this journey; everyone & everything has a purpose. With God, these people & things are divinely placed. We are truly blessed.

Quote: “When you pray for others, God listens to you.” -Unknown
